Keith, I have received your rootsweb posting. As of right now, I cannot tie my Bottoms line directly to yours, however, some of my Bottoms relatives went to Texas in early 1900s, and it is believed, though not verified, that they went there to join other relatives who had been there for a much longer time. The only areas that I know about at this time are near Dallas and Fort Worth. My mother was born in Benbrook, Texas, which now is a suburb of Dallas, but in 1917 was part of a very large ranch. My grandfather, James Alfred Bottoms had gone there to work as a carpenter. His father was John Alfred Bottoms of Cullman, Alabama. It is possible that he went to Texas about this time, or had been there earlier. Please stay in touch and I will let you know of any information I get which may be related to your lines.
