    1. [BOTTOM-L] Sending FTM Reports to others.
    2. Harvey Bottoms
    3. You can do this simply by showing the report on the screen. Select EDIT-Copy Report (Usually the name of the report). Then go to your email editor and/or word processing program and CTRL-V or EDIT PASTE. Magic. Your report is now easily shared with others without sending the actual file or hand typing all that information. Hope this helps as well. Harvey

    1. [BOTTOM-L] Family Tree Maker with Microsoft Office Tool
    2. Harvey Bottoms
    3. While this does not relate to surnames directly, I have been trying to get my information together so that I can link either people or dates or locations together. I have ran across this ability quite by accident but would like to share this with each of you in case you have these products or similar products. In Family Tree Maker, you have the ability to create a self defined report which can include any field(s) of your family tree program. Set this report to the fields that you would like to create a separate database that cannot be accomplished through FTM. Once you have your report, go the Edit menu option and select Copy Report. Go to a plain text editor and either Ctrl-V or Edit-Paste. This creates a tab delimited text file. Edit out the word Report and modify the headings to meet your needs. When you exit and save this file, bring up Access or Excel and import the file with the first line as headings. Bingo, you now have your information where you can slice and dice them to your hearts content. If later you need to update your information, just have it copy over the Excel file or import the information and overwrite the table that was originally created. You can use this to isolate either families or locations or dates or all three. You set the fields and the criteria to be used. Hope this helps someone. Harvey

    3. While I don't have a physical map, the Bottoms families have taken 3 major routes to my knowledge. One out of Amelia County VA went west to Kentucky, down to Tennessee and west to Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. Another group of Amelia County group went south to the Carolinas then Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas and Texas. One group, I believe the Henrico County group mainly stayed put. My group is the third and we went directly to Tennessee then Arkansas and finally Oklahoma and Texas. The earliest listing I have for him is in the late 1820's, when Burrel(l) wins a lot in the Georgia Indian Lands Gold Lottery (1827+/-). I would like to find earlier records of his family. Possibly need to look for those in Kentucky as well. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. Also, Does anyone have a Bottoms family migration map? Example this list name is WESTEX-ROOTS so if you want to search this list for the name of Holden your list name would be westex-roots and search name would be holden or HOLDEN or Holden you will be given a choice of years choose the year choose the query or message and have fun. Hours will become minutes. If I can help in either way let me know. I feel sure that in some way my Bottoms and your Bottoms are related. They both were in the same county of TN at the same time and had VA roots. My John, if you look on that 1850 census was living with a cousin from VA. I can't remember his name but can send it. If we knew that they had common cousins we would be a lot more sure. Tom

    3. Susan Right now, you are doing the most important think of your life. Do it as long as you can. I didn't have much forewarning when my mother died. I visited her in the hospital before she had surgery. While in surgery, she had a stroke and never gained consciousness. The next time I saw her, she was in a coma, then dead. I appreciate your willingness to get together. I will be looking forward to it. Remember, keep your priorities!!!! I hope to have it ready for others to look at and hopefully add to a little later. If you have interest now, just let me know. It is still in the early stages. Hopefully, this will all change shortly as I enter more and more information. Harvey Bottoms Where a Bottoms is always near the top.

At the moment, my Daddy is extremely ill and so I haven't had the opportunity to work much at all on genealogy for the past two weeks. Two times last week, we thought Daddy was on his way to meet Mother, but this Scott line is strong and the doctor doesn't have any idea how Daddy can still be here, but he is and I'm happy for each day as long as he doesn't have any pain. Once past this milestone in life, I will be back with all of you and, yes, Harvey, I will send everything that I have. Susan

    2. MR THOMAS A WELLBORN
    3. Still searching for any leads on a Burrell Bottoms, b. circa 1780's-- have any of the Tennessee relations found any possible connections as the families moved from Virginia? How about any leads in the early Georgia files? Descendents carry names of the sons of Burrell to be Noel, James Madison, John B. (Possibly Burrell), Davis, and Richard. I am a descendent of James Madison Bottoms. I would be interested in any information on Virginia Bottoms' families starting with the John Bottom listed in the tax records of the King of England, and living in Archer's Hope VA, 1623. I can't seem to get back, so I am looking to go forward from the first Bottoms' in America. Can anyone help? Thanks Jewel Wellborn ____ Jewel and Tom Wellborn

    3. Harvey - I only have knowledge of two John's in Virginia - 1. John Bottom, wife Elizabeth; b:ca. 1686-90 and only three sons are named in the will - Thomas who m: Unit?; John and William. This will was filed in Henrieo Co. in Sept. 1737. I have no ages for these people, but it is possible that this John went to Tennessee. One of the many things I have not done yet is to look thru the Tennessee Wills and Administrations to pull out the Bottom/s wills and write for them. 2. John B. Bottom, wife Elizabeth; b: ca. 1661 - will names John, Thomas, William, Joseph, Mary and Elizabeth as children. This John's will was probated Sept. 3, 1711 and is thought to be the father of the above John. Perhaps someone else will have more information to add. I think a lot of us would like to know more about these two John Olivers. Susan
