    1. [BOTTOM-L] James Bottoms-Durham England-Ellis Island
    2. William T Bottoms
    3. Does anyone know anything about the entry on the wall of honor at Ellis Island: Name: James Bottoms Origin: Durham, England Panel: #50 I assume this means that James entered America through Ellis Island and came from Durham England. Someone has requested that the name be placed on the wall of honor at Ellis Is. It would be interesting to know (a) who placed it there, and (b) when James arrived. http://www.wallofhonor.com I do know through research that Durham (northeast county, near Scotland and bordering the German Ocean) that there were Bottoms families in the area in 1700's...or earlier. regards Bill bbottoms@shore.intercom.net

    3. The below item taken from "William and Mary Quarterly Historical Magazine" Vol 22, No 2 (Oct 1913, p 119), by Nath Wilkerson and John Watkins: "May 5, 1784.- Wm Harden of St Paul to Thos Tucker 50 a. adj. Wm Row, Davis Blackwell road leading to Bottom's bridge. Jno Adams, Eliabeth Clarke, Jno. Holland" The above is from "Hanover Co Records. Was the area around Bottom's bridge ar one time in Hanover Co? If it is the same bridge, we can date back to 1784 (does anyone have data to support an earlier date?) regards Bill bbottoms@shore.intercom.net

    3. That's true about the Paschal in my line. Either Paschal H.'s son or grandson, Paschal, claimed that he was the 14th Paschal Bottoms. I have three, where's the other 11. Harvey -----Original Message----- From: BOTTOM-L-request@rootsweb.com [mailto:BOTTOM-L-request@rootsweb.com]On Behalf Of MR THOMAS A WELLBORN Sent: Monday, June 01, 1998 7:49 AM To: BOTTOM-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [BOTTOM-L] Burrell#1 Harvey and others: I am looking for Burrell #1(?). I do not have evidence of his connection to Miles except what was written in "The Bottoms Descendents in America", circa 1965. Nancilu Rankin, daughter of the author Almira Butler, has been working with me to document her mother's claims to this conection. I have seen no reference to Burrell #1 as a son of Miles in the legal documents I have found. If anyone has the documentation, please send so that we can complete this line. I have a will from Miles#1, and some information on Miles #2 Thomas. There are two pieces of evidence that Burrell went to GA and stayed near his son James Madison for a short time. There are land records in Pike County, 1820's- 1830's, and a listing for his draw in the GA gold Lottery of 1827. Richard, Brother of James Madison, has a son Burrell Bottoms listed in Almira Butlers book and Thomas Jefferson Bottoms, Son of James Madison, has a son Burrel Bottoms, b. in 1898. No doubt the name Burrell comes from somewhere-- just where is the "original"? Again-- if any one has seen the evidence, I would gladly piece some of the rest of the picture together. I am also looking for descendents from James Madison Bottoms, first wife Elizabeth Lockhart, and second wife, Eliza McElroy Hartsfield. THANKS!! ____ Jewel and Tom Wellborn

If you click FULL then you will see the entire query You can click other options try them see what happens. Jim Lantrip Bottoms hunter. The queries mention Burrell's Father, brothers etc. If Burrell is in fact son of Miles then Miles had a brother named Thomas and Thomas married Sarah Oliver and this links the Burrrell line into the Thomas line Both of which went to Tennessee. -----Original Message----- From: Harvey L.
