    3. Parrie E. BOTTOMS in Lawrence Co., AR, Lawrence Co. married C. CUNNINGHAM Figuring out date of birth for Parrie is a challenge as one paper dated 29 May 1895 says she was then 11 but another signed 24 May 1895 gives her age as 14! 3. I ran across this message and wanted to see if anyone knew if this Rebecca Latimer connects in any way to Samuel Jackson Latimer that married Nancy Bottoms Day on June 20, 1832 in Illinois. According to my information this Nancy Bottoms was born to John & Nancy Bottoms on July 18, 1797 in Kentucky. She married first John Barker Day on August 08, 1816, Green County, Kentucky. John took his family from Kentucky to Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois abt. 1830 where soon after John Barker Day died(in 1831), Nancy met Samuel Jackson Latimer who was born December 16, 1795, Kentucky, d. July 19, 1873, Webster County, Missouri. Nancy married Samuel Jackson Latimer on June 20, 1832, in Illinois. Nancy's siblings were Robert, Rebecca, Elizabeth, William, Sally & Merry Sanders Bottoms. I don't have any information on Nancy Bottoms Day Latimer's brother William. Could this William you are speaking of be a brother to my Nancy? Samuel Jackson Latimer had four brothers, Jonathan, Harve, Robert & William B. Latimer. I know nothing about his sisters or his parents. Samuel's first wife was Elizabeth Garrett. Samuel & Elizabeth had 4 children, Sarah Adaline Latimer, Dr. George Washington Latimer, Nancy Garrett Latimer & Eliza J. Latimer. Children of Samuel Jackson Latimer & Nancy Bottoms Day were Dr. Samuel Jackson Latimer, Margaret Ann Latimer, Martha Ann Latimer, Jacob Lasley Latimer, William Henry Latimer & Lydia Matilda Latimer. Thanks in advance for any information anyone can provide. 3. >From the List Owner. I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you who are subscribed to this list. Thank you for entering Queries, and for Helping those who are also looking for their brick walls, and other lost Bottom/Bottoms. I will be writing another letter to you soon telling you about some new services and search methods provided by Rootsweb, but today I wish to inform you about the Halberts of Bath of Ohio Scam that has reared its ugly head again. This time they are using Your surname to imply that a Bottom or Bottoms book is being published. It will tell about ships lists and imply that it has thousands of names of ancestors. It will also have a disclaimer about probably not being Kin to you and such. The common thread is that the mail is from BATH, Ohio. This group has been ordered to cease and desist from this practice but apparently they have found some sort of loophole. I will try and find the FTC order and publish it later or perhaps post it on my website and send you a link. Just be careful about you genealogical correspondence offers. 3. Hi, Bottom Hunters; The folks at Rootsweb are trying to be more helpful and have placed a filter on all List Email. What does it do? If you send an Email that is formatted in HTML format then it is converted to plain Text and accepted. In the past It was rejected and a copy sent to the list owner. Where I would usually write you a letter explaining the rules and how to send a plain Text formatted message. This change will help me and also cause less confusion on the formatted messages. To my knowledge attachments are still not allowed to the lists. If you have something that you think everyone should see and its in Text. Just copy and paste it in an email. If its graphics Send it to me and I will post it on the web somewhere and give you all the URL. If Anyone would like to volunteer to do this be My Guest. This list is for the use of all of you who I know are Rootsweb supporters as well as the Bottoms.org Website. Have a good day. Jim Lantrip... If any of you would like to have a genealogical Chat set up for the persons interested in Bottom/Bottoms and information sharing of a genealogical nature only, Let me know, and If there is enough interest I will try and get something going. 3. This email was sent to Harvey Bottoms Who placed it on the List but due to the formatting of the original message in HTML it was rejected and sent to me, Jim Lantrip, I have copied the Text version from the original. And put it back on the List. Thanks Harvey for forwarding it. I hope someone can help Sonja. Dear Shirley, First of all, it is an honor to be addressing a person with the last name of Bottoms. That I know of , I never have had the pleasure before, although my Great Grandmother was a Bottoms. I saw your posting on GenForum re: Arvie Zelia Bottoms and my bottom lip fell all the way to my chin. My g-grandmother's name was ARZELIA Bottoms! She went by Arzelia, but her first name was actually Bertha. She and my g-grandfather, David Chester, lived in Northern Georgia, and supposedly her father, Noel Bottoms, (married to Mathilda Richie in SC) , had accompanied his father, Parker Bottoms (married to Sarah Teague) from South Carolina, Abbeville District. Here is my problem: I cannot find Parker's mother or father, sisters or brothers in SC. I can find Bottoms there, I just can't make a definate connection. Also, it would appear that the family moved west after the War Between the States. Noel served as a nurse in the Confederate Army, and was a member of the Dalton Boys. I don't know where Parker was at this time, as I cannot find him. Maybe dead or already moved west. My g-grandma evidently married and stayed in GA with her husband. I am wondering if your Bottoms ancestors might have been brothers or uncles to Parker. I saw a book that my sister bought on the Bottoms family (mainly of Texas) and you could put us beside them and we would fit right in. My grandma and grandpa moved to Texas from GA early in their marriage. They moved to be near family. I don't know whose family, but I don't know of any of my other lines that moved west. They did not like the dust storms and my grandma hated the gela monsters, so they moved back to GA. But I am thinking that it was my grandma's family that they went to join. Arzelia was her mom. I know that one or more of the lines of Bottoms in Texas are related to us, and I would love to make that connection. Maybe you can help me. Does anything I have said jive with your materials? It is a long shot, but the names are so similar that I thought maybe it meant something. I will be eagerly awaiting your response to my email. Thank you for your time and effort God bless you for your help. Sincerely, Sonja Walker, Beatrix2000@ivillage.com |<^>| A self made man usually worships his creator.

Let me tell you all what I know and if any of you can help me, I would greatly appreciate it. My grandfather's name was Oscar Foy Bottoms. He had two sisters, "Fat" and Willa Mae. Mr. Lantrip gave me some names of others who are relatives, and they were names I had heard of before but could not remember on my own. They were Newton Wesley Bottoms and William Fletcher Bottoms. My grandfather's family as well as my mom and aunt grew up in Oklahoma, but we have since spread out across the country. I am going home (Las Vegas) for a visit this week, so I will try and gather some more information from my mom. We have a set of sketches in our hallway that include pictures of six male generations starting with my brother and going backwards. I would love any information you all might have for me. I'm just starting my search and have three more sides of my family to uncover. Thank you so much! Jenna Carter jcarter@fourhcouncil.edu

    1. [BOTTOM-L] New Service at Rootsweb.
    2. James E Lantrip
    3. Rootsweb has just implemented a new service. It is a threaded archive from existing mailing lists. I have signed the Bottom list to be archived and Threaded. You will be required to signup and give your alias and a password of your choice. Also you must allow a cookie. This insures the spammers don't get the addresses. See the anouncement below on how to sign up. Here is the official Announcement. * * * THREADED LIST ARCHIVES ARE NOW AVAILABLE. Now you can read 122,813 messages from 877 mailing lists using your Web browser by visiting <http://archiver.rootsweb.com/>. All those messages are from just three months of beta tests -- watch this archives grow with its public debut. This is a remarkably comfortable way to browse through the posts that have been made to the lists. Be sure to use the integrated search engine to find what you are looking for. To use the Archiver you will need to pick a user name and password and you will need to accept a cookie. The reason for passwords and cookies is to keep spammers' e-mail address harvesters *out* of the archives. Because of this password-and- cookie feature, listowners can set up lists to be archived with confidence that they are *not* exposing posters' addresses to spammers. We encourage all RootsWeb listowners to visit the Archiver and then include their lists in the archives. The next step is to start making old list messages available. Thanks to Marc Nozell for implementing the threaded archives. It's great work. * * * After today you can reach the beginning of the thread by going to http://archiver.rootsweb.com/BOTTOM-L as more messages are threaded more information will be available to new and old timers alike. Jim Lantrip manager of Bottom-L.

    2. Harvey L. Bottoms
    3. Frances and the Bottoms Group I went to the library today and I found a couple of Harrisons in Brunswick County that caused me to make a double-take. I am already looking at John Bottom - Tabitha Harrison July 17,1800 I found these two John H. Bottom - Nancy Harrison July 7, 1823 And Paschal Harrison. I am just asking first of all if these two John Bottom be the same and Paschal Harrison is also the first and middle name of my great great grandfather. Harvey
