    1. [BOTTOM-L] List Activity
    2. Harvey L. Bottoms
    3. I for one enjoy all the activity on the Bottom-L site. It is too quiet too often. Just to let everyone know that I just returned from a genealogical vacation to Tennessee. I came back with a great deal of new information that I missed last year. For those who may not know me, I descend from a John Bottom born circa 1775 somewhere in Virginia. Marriage records and family hand-me-downs tend to make the John Bottom-Tabitha Harrison marriage in Brunswick County as our primary suspect to be my John. They moved to Rutherford County, Tennessee probably late 1820's and prior to 1828. Later my great-great grandfather, Paschal Harrison Bottoms moved his family to Gibson County, Tennessee. I have considerable documentation for both Rutherford and Gibson Counties but still haven't proved the Virginia connection. All four of John's children were born in Virginia between 1803 and 1815. Let's make this list a little more active and maybe somehow or another we can start connecting some of these Bottom/Bottoms families. Harvey

    1. [BOTTOM-L] CORRECTION to my BURRELL BOTTOMS post
    2. Cynthia Kirkland
    3. CORRECTION!!!! Please disregard the previous email I sent about BURRELL and James BOTTOMS and replace it with this CORRECTED one. I kept saying BURRELL's brother was JAMES in Barbour Co., when in fact I meant John W. BOTTOMS (the document on my web page below is correct.). Below is the exact same email I sent but with the CORRECTION of JOHN W. in place of JAMES is made. Sorry about that. Other references to Dr. JAMES BOTTOMS on the other pages IS CORRECT. >I am researching the line of Burrell BOTTOMS. Would appreciate any >information. Thanks. >A. Hampton > >______________________________ Dear Arlene Hampton, Nancy Darnall and BOTTOMS List, I have some Burrell BOTTOMS information. A Burrell BOTTOMS and his brother JOHN W. lived in Barbour Co. AL for a while. John W. BOTTOMS left a power of attorney in 1861, in that county, when he went to Texas for awhile, allowing Burrell and his family to use his farm and farm equipment. JOHN W. leased the farm but allowed the lease to be used by Burrell in his absence. This power of attorney can be found in full on my GenTime Genealogy site. The specific web page for this document is: http://www.gentime.com/genealogy/doc_archive/bottoms/bottoms.j.w-12.1.html Another document on this site is for a list of early BOTTOMS settlers in Dale and Henry Counties, AL. A BURRELL BOTTOMS, DR. JAMES BOTTOMS and J. W. BOTTOMS and all of their sons are listed as early settlers in this area of AL. The specific web page for this document is: http://www.gentime.com/genealogy/doc_archive/bottoms/bottoms-settlers-11.1.html A list of early medical Doctors of Dale Co. AL, and since they lived in Barbour Co. at the same time as the above BURRELL and JOHN W. BOTTOMS; and since M.R. SIMS moved down to DALE CO. near Dr. JAMES BOTTOMS, after his wife, Frances BOTTOMS death, I feel that my FRANCES BOTTOMS was closely related to Dr. JAMES, JOHN W. and BURRELL BOTTOMS, but cannot make the connection. Further evidence of a relationship between these families is that they were both from Pike Co. GA, along with other BOTTOMS and HARTSFIELDs. M. R.'s SIMS family was closely related to the HARTSFIELDs, Research shows that BURRELL BOTTOMS wife, Sarah, was one of these HARTSFIELDS. My FRANCES BOTTOMS and M.R. 2. Howdy Ruth: Thank you ever so much for responding to my query on the Bottoms Family. I want to start by saying that I am not a descendant of the Bottoms Family, but my beloved wife, now deceased, was Ruth Dalton Bottoms (1926-1993). Her lineage in the Bottoms Family is as follows: 1. John Thomas Bottoms ( ? ) of Henrico Co., VA. 2. Robert Lee Bottoms (1863-1932) of Henrico Co. and Richmond, VA married Maggie Chenault (1867-1953) 3. Wilbur Hoge Bottoms ( 1897-1981) of Richmond, VA married Pearl Radford Wilkinson (1897-1983) My wife has one brother named Garland Lee Bottoms who now resides in Florida. Anything that you can tell me about this family will be greatly appreciated. I am helping my son and my daughter in their efforts to trace their family roots. Warmest Regards and God Bless. 3. A couple of you have written me asking "What are Tag Lines?". A tag line is similar to a signature, except there are 10 (ten) which rotate. This breaks up the redundancy and allows one small tag line instead of many. I have decided to use the tag lines to contain links to web pages that have Bottom/Bottoms genealogical information on line. If you will provide me a description and Link to your web page I will check it out and enter the description and URL as a tag line. You should see it about every tenth message on the Bottom-L list. Please notify me by private E-mail and I will try to include the URL in a tag line. Please also give me a very short description of the contents of the URL. I will check out the URL and add it to each Message. That comes over the list. I may approach this in a different way and provide a links location if the list tag lines get to voluminous.
