Hi All, Update to BGA ( www.bottoms.org ) Just added section on Andrew Chappel Bottoms and descendants which was contributed by Rupert Sexton. A tip for those of you that may not be familiar with the services on NetMind. This is a free service that will monitor selected web pages and send an email to you when any changes are made to it. That way you don't have to continual check the site for updates. I have no connection in any form with this service and only mention it because I find it useful. www.netmind.com Bill Bottoms bbottoms@intercom.net webmaster@bottoms.org
I have already used it and it is great. I have put the lineage based upon my primary line in the notes as well. Hi, My name is Valerie Ogborn and I am also descended from William Fletcher Bottoms. I have some very interesting information on William Fletcher Bottoms. I don't know the book this paper was copied from (it was sent to my Mother and she sent a copy to me) but the title of the page is "History of Jack County" page 100. It says: "W.F. Bottoms was born in Tennessee October 5th, 1834; went to Illinois in 1852; married to Latha Jane Boyd, August 16th, 1853. To this union were born: W.H. Bottoms, born January 31st 1857; Rebecca Bottoms, born May 9th 1858; Newton Wesley Bottoms, born April 7th, 1860; George McClelland Bottoms, born October 1st, 1864; Pearl Bottoms, born 1871; Louisa Bottoms, born September 1st, 1874; Paulina Elizabeth Bottoms, born February 7th, 1876. Came to Collin County, Texas in January, 1874; moved to Ross Valley, Jack County Texas in December 1876; lived there for twenty years, then moved to Bryson, Jack County, Texas where he served as a postmaster for eight years. Prior to this he served as deputy sheriff under John D. Rains, sheriff of Jack County, this deputyship was for a term of two years. His wife died in Jack County, Texas, January 21st, 1908. Mr. Bottoms' death occurred at Bryson, Jack County, Texas, in April, 1933. Had he lived till October 5th, 1933, he would have been 99 years old. Mr. Bottoms served the entire four years in the Northern army-had one brother who died in the service of the Northern army- had two brothers who served the entire four years in the Southern Army." This quote may be from one of the these books, I don't know. My line comes from William Fletcher Bottoms' daughter Rebecca. She married John William Morrow. Sincerely, Valerie Ogborn
Hi there. My name is Jenna Carter. I am a descendant of William Fletcher Bottoms. I live in the Washington, D.C. area and am very interested in your findings. Do you know if any of the names listed are relations? I never even thought to look at the Wall because no one in my immediate family was involved in the war. Maybe I should revisit that. Hi Kim, It's me, Susan, from the "Samuel, Chester, Florine Bottoms" message, out here in Alabama. The Billy Bottoms in this message is not the William Pink you ask about. William Pink is son of Samuel (I think his real name is Sampson) Bottoms, and I am in touch with his son in Indiana. He doesn't have e-mail but I can get you his address if you want to correspond with him...write me...rsbottom@snowhill.com did you get my last email with the attatchments? Harvey and Sue, Just as an interesting side note to your OK Bottoms, here is an excerpt from my home page... >I was once told that I have Indian blood in me through my maternal grandmother. >Today the politically correct way would be to say that I have Native American Heritage. >Yes, I found out that my maternal grandmother was born in the Cherokee Nation. >But, she was not Native American. Seems that my great grandfather killed a man in > Missouri and was hiding out up in Indian territory This great grandfather was Thomas Lawson Bottom. His daughter, my maternal grandmother, Florence Delra Bottom, was born 14-May-1896, Catoosa, OK. Phonetically (since I don't know the spelling) I think the area was the Koo-we-schoo-we District of the Cherokee nation. -- Jim Strickland <jimstr@slip.net> Jim Strickland's Family Tree http://www.slip.net/~jimstr

Indian Territory is a large area of land. Where in Indian Territory? There are several Bottoms researchers who have relatives in Indian Territory. My family lived on the Kiowa-Comanche Reservation for a while before moving to Ada in the Chickasaw Nation.
