    3. Hello - Due to our ancestors' attitude to spelling, I am not even sure that my ancestor was a BOTT; however, he doesn't seem to be what his son claimed, either. I hope someone can help. In the 1840's my mother's great grandfather settled in DeKalb County, Indiana, having been born in Berks County, Pennsylvania. His name was George PUTT,(1814-1900) son of Jacob and Catherine SHAFFER PUTT, married to Sarah Getz, (1821-1884) daughter of Nicholas and Elizabeth PALM GETZ. Other information I have is that: George claimed to be part German, part English. Jacob PUTT was supposed to have been connected with St. Daniel's Church in Heidelberg Twp., Berks Co. The closest I found in St. Daniel's records to Jacob & Catherine PUTT is when Henry (born 6 Mar 1820, bap. 3 May 1821), son of Jacob BOTH & wife Catharine, was baptized. Edward POTH was baptized 20 June 1819, but his parents are not listed. When I found a Henry and Elisabeth BOTT who had a son John Jacob in Lancaster Co., I hoped that I had struck gold, but that doesn't seem to lead anywhere, either. Sorry I can't be briefer, Carolyn
