Just a quick notice here: There is a cemetery in York county PA that a church is negotiating building an addition over. The are many court proceedings going on now regarding this. I have acquired a list of persons buried in the section being decided on. They will be relocating the graves. I am posting the list to the mailing lists I think it may pertain to. I know the Bott, Rickard,Goss, and Ratz lines were all in the York county area. There are also 2 Shulers listed. The church and cemetery are in Conewega township, just east of Manchester township, where the Bott line was. Here is the list and at the bottom is a link to read a newspaper article on it for those interested. Sorry for those of you this doesn't interest, it has taken about 2 weeks to get this list released. I have a hard enough time finding graves that are still there so I thought someone might need these. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Leah Altland Amanda ? Anna Maria ? To wrap up the Roll Call Searching for info as to the parentage of HERMANUS BOTT born about 1697 in Palatine. He immigrated to the US 1743 on the ship "Loyal Judith".Records show that he married Anna Catherine Hahn 6-13-1749 as his second wife and an unknown woman in 1722, so therefore Anna wouldn't be the mother of the children. I am looking for info regarding who the parents of Hermanus were and who the first wife and mother of the children were. Thanks Debra Carter tara37@comsys.net

My Bott "Wall" is actually in Russia. Just this side of the wall lives: Phillip Bott, born in Beidek, Russia sometime prior to August 19, 1884. He married Marie Katherine Froshieser in Beidek, Russia. She was also born there. They had a son George Bott, Sr., August 19, 1884, in Beidek, Russia. George died January 5, 1923, in Denver, Colorado. I can bring George, Sr forward, but not backward to the wall and beyond. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Scott Singleton

I have George Bott, b. Leichester ENG 1826, m. Christina Hopper b. 1831 in Morris Co. NJ; they were married in Morris Co. in 1848. I cannot find his death, but he is in the 1860 Census but was dead before the 1870 census. I have a record that said she was married three times but no info for the latter marriages. I believe George came to to the US as a one year old with his parents who were: William Bott and Frances Ashley, believe married in Leichester. He born 1796, she born 1798 birthplaces unknown. He died 1869, she died 1880, both in Morris Co. NJ. Looking for their parents and marriage info. Frank
Let's have a ROLL CALL, beginning now and ending Sunday night at midnight. I am still searching for any connections to my Bott(s) ancestors: John Richard Bott (1792-1862) and his wife, Anne Susan D. Picot (1802-1866) a native of Jersey, one of the Channel Islands. They emigrated to Prince Edward Island, Canada in 1822. I see there are Bott(s) families in New Jersey. I wonder if any of them have any connections to Jersey, one of the Channel Islands between England and France. Happy New Year to all Bott(s) researchers worldwide and I hope to find some common connections out there. Sincerely, Edna (Botts) Cudmore
Yesterday, Frances Bott put out a message about the Bott family from Montville TWP, Morris Co., NJ. I have a William Bott b. 1796 in Leicestrshire, England and his wife Frances Ashley Bott, b. 1798 same place. They came over from England in about 1826 with their son George (age 1), and settled in Montville. They had several other children after moving to Montville including Walter and William. He died in 1869 and she died in 1880. They are buried behind the current Montville United Methodist Church. George married Christina Hopper and moved to Newark. Walter Ashley Bott married Sarah Crane. William Bott, Jr. married Maria Freeman (also buried in Montville).
My father is Francis Louis Bott (my name is Frances Louise Bott) b. July 7,1910 d. Aug. 12, 1965. He had a twin brother named Frederic Willard Bott d.Dec. 1981. They were born in Montville TWP Morris County, New Jersey. Their siblings names were Jeanette E., Ruth, Raymond, and Martin. Their parents were Louis Ellsworth Bott and Edith May Gale and in later years lived in Mantua Terrace, New Jersey. That's about as far as I have gotten. I have been working on my mother's side of the family because info is so readily available. I have located Raymond's grandson, but he did not have allot of information on Mr. and Mrs. Bott. If any of this looks familiar, please contact me. HERMANUS BOTT born about 1697 in Germany immigrated to the US in 1743 landing in PA and settling in the York county area,he was 46 years old at the time.He married Anna Catherine Hahn and they had 7 children. On the same ship with Hermanus were 2 others of the Bott name. Hans Emerich age 42 and Peter age 35.I am inclined to believe they were related. I know that the Hans Emerich was a brother and another brother came later, Heinrich.I would be most intersted in exchanging info with anyone on this line, I am really wanting to get to where they came from in Germany and trace the roots there. Hello - Due to our ancestors' attitude to spelling, I am not even sure that my ancestor was a BOTT; however, he doesn't seem to be what his son claimed, either. I hope someone can help. In the 1840's my mother's great grandfather settled in DeKalb County, Indiana, having been born in Berks County, Pennsylvania. His name was George PUTT,(1814-1900) son of Jacob and Catherine SHAFFER PUTT, married to Sarah Getz, (1821-1884) daughter of Nicholas and Elizabeth PALM GETZ. Other information I have is that: George claimed to be part German, part English. Jacob PUTT was supposed to have been connected with St. Daniel's Church in Heidelberg Twp., Berks Co. The closest I found in St. Daniel's records to Jacob & Catherine PUTT is when Henry (born 6 Mar 1820, bap. 3 May 1821), son of Jacob BOTH & wife Catharine, was baptized. Edward POTH was baptized 20 June 1819, but his parents are not listed. When I found a Henry and Elisabeth BOTT who had a son John Jacob in Lancaster Co., I hoped that I had struck gold, but that doesn't seem to lead anywhere, either. Sorry I can't be briefer, Carolyn
Hello all listers I would like to encourage everyone to make a posting listing briefly what line you are in this surname and where you are stuck at in your research. Who is the brick wall. I know we have had several new people subscribe towards the end of the year, and of course that brings new lines in. It would be a great start for everyone to be able to knock down a brick wall. Now that the holidays are over maybe we can get some conversations going again. Debra Carter
Hi again folks I just recieved this from one of the list subscribers. In regards to the posting I just made about the virus. Thought some of you may be interested. I also meant to mention earlier everyone might want to reevaluate some of the lists they are on till after the New Year. -----Original Message----- From: Lois [mailto:ljfljf@psyber.com] Sent: Saturday, December 18, 1999 11:44 PM To: tara37@comsys.net Subject: Re: administrative Debbie... This virus is not a hoax. It is on at least five of the surname lists I subscribe to. It is from messagemates.com. Folks need to know that there is a quick way to see if they have been infected. >From START menu, scroll up to FIND and type in the word "farter". If it shows up, you have been infected by this virus. If it doesn't show up, you're clear for now. Norton has a free 30 day trial offer of their scan program at this site. It takes several hours to download, but it has a shield for even the very latest viruses. http://www.symantecstore.com/Pages/TBYB/nav2k.html You might want to pass this on to the list. Lois in CA
