To reply to the list you need to click on the "Reply All" option. some lists are set up in different ways, I guess this one requires this method. by the way, I'm not the list owner, but I do own several RootsWeb lists. The option to send messages to the list by hitting the reply or the reply all option is set by the owner. I was under the impression that the whole point of a mailing list was to exchange information, where possible, with all members. I once made the mistake of replying to an individual (on another mailing list) and it was politely put to me (and rightly so) that my reply really should have been sent to the list for everyone to see. Only in cases where AOL have caused problems have I deviated from this. I have received so little Boston mail since joining that I do wonder about continuing my subscription. I have been on this list for quite a while, subscribing and unsubscribing as I go on vacation, etc. and there have been times when the list has been real busy and times when it is slow. I notice many of the list I have been subscribed to for a while slowing down. It may be, as it has been for me, that they have the information they came to the list for and move on to others they are seeking. I stay on the lists to see if I can return the favor and help new listers in their search. Hope this helps. "E"
Another posibility is' If the original sender uses an e'mail program like Netscape which has a "Reply To" addtess capability then the ypur reply will over-ride all other addresses in favor of the "reply to". To reply to such a post the ""reply All" as mentioned below should include the rootsweb and senders addys in your responce header...
