    3. Thursday - January 31, 2002 Ruth A. Simoneau LACONIA — Ruth A. Simoneau, 92, of Laconia, died Jan. 29, 2002, in the Laconia Center, Genesis Eldercare Network after a long illness. She was born in Worcester, Mass., the daughter of Joseph and Bessie (Robbins) MacLeod and had been a resident of Laconia since 1957. She was a resident of Lynn, Mass., for more than 30 years and moved here with her husband, Ernest J. Simoneau, following his retirement from the ITT Illumination Co. Mrs. Simoneau was employed by the F. W. Woolworth Co. for more than 40 years. She worked in the Lynn, Mass., store for 27 years and transferred to the Laconia store in August of 1957. She was a member of the Evangelical Baptist Church and was an active member of the Laconia Christian Women’s Club. In addition, she was a member of the Opechee Garden Club and the Laconia Woman’s Club. Her husband died in 1971. She leaves no immediate survivors. There are no calling hours. A funeral ceremony will be held in the Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St., Saturday at 10 a.m. The Rev. John W. Hillyer, pastor of the Evangelical Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the Lakeview Cemetery, Upton, Mass. Timothy C. Molan and David L. Furber are the funeral directors. Preston, 74, of Fox Meadow Retirement Home, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002. He was born in Lynn, Mass., the son of Raymond and Edna (Fogg) Preston. He grew up and attended school in the Lynn area. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He resided with his wife Shirley (Mayhew) Preston and son James in the Wakefield, Mass., area for more than 30 years. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Preston was a self-employed carpenter, specializing in finish carpentry and remodeling throughout the Essex County area of Massachusetts. Mr. Preston was a member of the Congregational Church and the Lions Club, both in Wakefield, Mass. He was an avid scuba diver and enjoyed boating. Family members include his wife, Shirley (Mayhew) Preston of Plymouth; one son, James Preston of Plymouth; and a sister, Sylvia Preston of Bonita Springs, Fla. He was predeceased by two brothers, Donald and Philip. Robert E. Lamy NAPLES, Maine — Robert E. Lamy, 74, of 268 Margaret St., Naples, died Jan. 28, 2002 at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston after a long illness. He was born in Manchester, N.H., on March 28, 1927, the son of Oscar and Gertrude Libby Lamy. He graduated from Manchester West High School in 1945. He was a master electrician in and around the Manchester area. He and his wife were foster parents to hundreds of children between 1958 and 1987 through the Manchester Foster Care System. In 1987, he became the proprietor of the Monument View Motel in Bennington, Vt. He was treasurer of the Workman’s Club in Manchester, N.H., for many years. He married Catherine Lajoie, and they enjoyed 42 years of marriage. Family members include his wife of Naples, Maine; five daughters, Christine C. Marchand of Manchester, N.H., Karen Ann Lamy of Hinsdale N.H., Patricia Ann Potter of Thornton, N.H., Lisa Asha-Marie Lamy of Naples, and Shari Ann Martell of Corpus Christi, Texas; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; and a sister, Ruth Lievins of Manchester, N.H. Morton S. McIntosh RAYMOND — Morton S. McIntosh, 84, of Prescott Road, died Jan. 28, 2002, at home. He was born March 5, 1917, in Pittsfield, son of Howard W. and Edith P. (Sargent) McIntosh. He was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Helen L. (Davis) McIntosh. Family members include a son, Albert McIntosh of Raymond; two grandsons; a great-granddaughter; a sister, Phyllis Yeaton of Barnstead; his companion of 16 years, Marjorie Parker of Raymond; and several nieces and nephews. Herbert E. Sprague DOVER — Herbert E. Sprague Sr., 76, of 15 Richmond St., died Jan. 29, 2002, at the Wentworth-Douglas Hospital. Born in Sullivan, Maine, on June 27, 1925, he was the son of Herbert E. Sprague and Marguerite (Pratt) Sprague Morrison. He had resided in Dover for most of his life where he attended schools. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army Engineers in the European Theater. He worked for the former Morrill Furniture Co. and founded Sprague Floor Covering Inc. He retired in 1987 after 50 years. He was also the founder of the former Spinco Laundromat. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a 50-year member of the Moss Paul Lodge 96 F&AM and was a member of the Shrine. Family members include his wife of 53 years, Emily (Allard) Sprague; a son, Herbert E. "Ted" Sprague Jr. of Alton; four daughters, Mrs. Norman (Donna) Veno of Manchester, Mrs. Gary (Janice) Bandouveres of Rollinsford, Mrs. Jan (Gail) Tsoronis of Barrington, Mrs. Kevin (Marguerite) Clifford of Dover; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Eleanor A. Weigler MOULTONBORO — Eleanor A. Weigler, 84, died Jan. 28, 2002, at the St. Francis Home in Laconia. Mrs. Weigler was born in Manchester on March 16, 1917, the daughter of Arthur and Ella (Schricker) Langer. She was predeceased by her husband, Fritz G. Weigler Jr., in 1995. Prior to her retirement, she was employed with the Meredith School Department and the town of Moultonboro. Earlier in her life, she was employed with her husband, who was co-owner of Weigler Bros. from 1946-1966. She had been active years ago in the Sabre Club. Mrs. Weigler enjoyed stamp collecting, gardening and sewing. Family members include one son, Ralph R. Weigler of Moultonboro and Dunnellen, Fla.; one grandson; one brother, Herbert Langer of Bedford; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
