My Great Great Grandfather Jeremiah Joseph Lyons was raised by his fathers cousin Mrs. McNary (maiden name Lyons) in Manchester, MA. Jeremiah and his father came to Boston about 1852, Jeremiah was 4 years old. Jeremiah's mother Catherine did not make the trip to the states, assume she died in Ireland. Jeremiah's father John Lyons went west to look for work, he settled, married and died in Marion, Ohio. We believe Jeremiah never saw his father after he went west. Jeremiah grew up and went to school in/around Boston, in the 1880 Census he is married to Alice Meehan (Lyons) 1st wife and a child named James his occupation is listed as a woodcarver. In the 1890 Boston, Massachusetts Directory his occupation is still a woodcarver with location 1 as 1V block, Waltham, Location 2 as Westville, corner Topliff. His first wife Alice died in 1887, they had several children most died early of RH Factor. Later in 1887 he married Mary Elizabeth Welch and had 8 children the oldest of which was my great grandfather John Joseph Lyons. I have obtained quite of bit of information on his 2nd marriage and children, but would like to find out more about the person who raised Jeremiah from a child to adulthood.
