I wonder if anyone knows if couples getting married in Boston 1886 would have needed to apply for a marriage liscence and if so, where might I find a copy of that paperwork? Also, something I noted on the record of marriage for my GGGrandparents in 1886 is that there are no witnesses listed; would they have required witnesses at the wedding and how can I find out who they were?
