    2. following newsclipping in my grandmother's files ... probably about 1920. "Thomas McCullough Dies in 80th Year" --------------------------------------------------------- "Was long Inspector in Building Department" --------------------------------------------------------- "Maj" Thomas McCullogh, a veteran of the Civil War and an inspector in City Building Department, died suddenly last evening at his home, 57 Monument Ave, Charlestown, of heart trouble. He had been ill with a cold. Mr McCullough was one of the best know citizens of the Bunker Hill ditrict for more than 35 years. He was born in Ireland 80 years ago, and came to this country at an early age. During the Civil war he served with Co B, 22d Massachusetts Regiment, participating in 19 battles and being severely wounded in the Battle of Gettysburg. In May, 1906, he was appointed an Inspector in the Building Department, holding the position until his death. In the early [18]80's, before moving to Chalestown, he was elected to the House of Representatives from the old Ward 6 in the North End. He was a member of Fitzpatrick Court, M. C. O. F. The funeral will be held at St Mary's Church, Charlestown, where a solemn high mass of requiem will be celebrated at 10 o'clock. ------------- transcriber note: family notes indicate he was a cousin of my Martin ancestors from southern County Monagahn, Ireland. Census of 1920 has his age at 82. I have been unable to locate him in 1880 census. Where would have been " ... the old Ward 6 in the North End ... " ca 1880? referred to in the above obituary?
