Hello, Seeing the last posting on the List reminded me of a question. I have an ancestor who lived most of his life in CT, but around 1890 he moved to Melrose, MA. After his wife's death in 1899, he sold his house and probably moved to a rooming house in Boston. He probably lived in Boston from 1900 to 1904 when he was admitted to Tewksbury State Hospital. He died there (Tewksbury) in 1905. If he left a will, which County would it have been filed in, Suffolk or Middlesex? Thank you for your time. Betty (near Lowell, MA, USA) "There are two lasting bequests we can give our children; one is roots, the other is wings." Hodding Carter, Jr. "What does Jesus want in his "stocking" on Christmas morning? Loving kindness, a warm heart, and the stretched out hand of tolerance!" The Bishop's Wife (1947)
Middlesex. Probates are always filed in the county where the person last resided before death, not where the will may necessarily have been written. Our web site has a bit more information, including county courthouse contacts at: http://www.mass-doc.com/probate_research.htm At 07:33 AM 6/12/2003, you wrote: >Hello, > >Seeing the last posting on the List reminded me of a question.
