Hi Karen, Deaths in MA are book indexed for 5 year intervals and are for the entire state so it doesn't matter that you don't know the city/county where your ancestor died. Rootsweb has a list of volunteers who are willing to do lookups for death records so perhaps if you contact one of them and request a 10 yr. search, you might get lucky and find the information you seek. That said I hope his name isn't John Smith or something so common! Good luck in your search. Joanne
