    3. Recently I spent 5 weeks in Boston on business. In my free time I took advantage of the Boston Public Library, just a block away, and the New England Historical and Genealogical Society, just across the street. Most genealogy researchers can only dream of having the resources that Boston offers. I figured if I were able to spend 6 months in the Boston Public Library just 5 days a week, all the open hours, I still wouldn't be able to cover all the genealogy information that is held in all those beautiful rooms. It use to take me 30 minutes a day just to take in all the architectural details and murals. I learned that the old part of the library is a research library. And the staff never ever failed to be extremely helpful. I almost cried when I went to the Rare Books/Musical section. I explained to the librarian I was doing research on the first family to open a musical publishing business in Boston. She asked me if it was another family and I said no it was the Von Hagen's. Oh yes the Von Hagen's she said. I told her the way you are shaking your head yes you act like you know who I am talking about. She said of coarse I know about the Von Hagen's and proceeded to give me information about them. Then she showed me where to look and what to look for. What a thrill. I got to see prints of their music!!!!!!! The staff at the NEHGS was also very helpful and you could spend a life time there with all the info they had. Sadly I didn't ever get the time to go to the archives. I didn't find out until to late they are open on Saturdays. Good luck. Regina
