Denning of 11 Lafayette Ave., became the bride of Thomas Frederick Stephens, son of Mrs. Fred J. Stephens of Everett and formerly of New York. The marriage was performed by Rev. Father Lucian, retreat master at St. Gabriel’s Monastery, Brighton, who also celebrated the nuptial mass. The Cathedral was decorated with peach gladioli and huckleberry for the occasion. Lieut. James Denning, stationed in New Jersey, was granted a few hours off from his duties to serve as best man for his new brother-in-law. The ceremony was held in New York so that Lieut. Denning could be in the wedding party. Seating the guests were Fred C. Stevens of Havana, Cuba, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, William Parkhurst of New York City, Lieut. Robert Gallagher of Brookline and Dr. Daniel Lawlor of Uxbridge. The bridge gowned in a street-length dress of navy blue, with pink hat and accessories. She carried orchids and stephanotis. Her honor maid, Miss Gertrude A. Grady of Revere, wore a fuchsia-pink dress with navy accessories. She held a bouquet of sweetheart roses and stephanotis. Miss Grady is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George R. Grady, formerly of this city. A large reception was held at the Waldorf-Astoria, with many from Greater Boston in attendance. Mr. Stephens and his bride will reside at the Hotel Commander, Cambridge. The bride is a graduate of Regis College and Boston University. She was a member of the faculty at Chelsea High School. Her bridegroom was graduated from Hobart College, New York and Yale University. He is a member of Kappa Alpha Society and Kiwannis. Denning Before the gladioli decorated main alter of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Jamaica Plain, Monday morning, Miss Eleanor Theresa {Josephine} Dever, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Dever of 81 Dunsten rd, Jamaica Plain and niece of Former Attorney General Paul A. Dever, became the bride of James Cusick Denning, son of Mrs. James Denning and the late Mr. Denning of 11 Lafayette ave. The single ring ceremony was performed by Rev. Francis J. Horgan, who also celebrated the nuptial mass. Mrs. Ida O’Shea, organist, played the wedding marches and served as accompanist to Miss Kathleen O’Connor, who offered the following vocal selections, "Ave Maria", "Panis Angelicus" and "On This Day O Beautiful Mother". Escorted to the sanctuary by her father, the bride wore a lovely gown of blush pink satin, entraine, styled with a bertha of Viennese lace. Her chapel length veil of blush pink tulle was caught to a crown of matching orange blossoms and she carried a bouquet of blush colored camellias. Mrs. Charles A. Reynolds of Jamaica Plain was the matron of honor for her sister, attired in apple green satin. She had a headdress of talisman roses and English ivy and carried a cascade of identical ivy. Wearing similar gowns of gold satin with headdresses and bouquets of talisman roses in cascade were the bridesmaids, Miss Shirley Newman of Brookline, Miss Elizabeth Powers of Stoughton, Mrs. Katherine Carrigan of Quincy and Miss Ruth Murray of Cambridge. Jacqueline Stevens of Boston was a tiny duplicate of the matron of honor in her role as flower girl. The bridegroom had Joseph Galvin as best man. The sextet of ushers included Thomas Stephens of New York City, brother-in-law of the bridegroom; George Frazier, also of New York City and an author of note; Charles Herlihy of Cambridge, William Dugan of Milton and Robert Gallagher of New York and William Walsh of Brookline. The reception was held at the Sheraton Room, Copley Plaza for some 200 guests. Receiving honors were shared by Mrs. Dever and Mrs. Denning, mothers of the newlyweds. After a three weeks’ honeymoon at Bermuda, Mr. Denning and his bride will reside at 85 Prescott st., Cambridge. The bride is a graduate of Marycliff Academy and Regis College. Her husband was graduated from Harvard University and the College of Business Administration.
