I sent this before but did not see it on the list. I just added the Boston Marriages for 1716 & 1717 to my web site at: http://www.rays-place.com/town/ma/boston/ These will be merged in with the other marriage records that I are online when I have at laest 5 years to add to that file. Please don't reply to this address, it goes noplace, that way my address does not get picked up by spammers from the archives. Cheers Ray Brown

Look on Google.com for Boston Tea Party Participants. There is one item about the event, another item with names of the participants, and another item with names of lodge members participating in the event. Be careful of the spelling. Two of my relatives on the list have a variation on the usual spelling. I found half a dozen family names on the list. History and genealogy are fun! Elizabeth in Indianapolis
Does anyone know how I can find out about the individuals who were in the meeting before the Boston Tea Party was held? We believe our ggg-grandfather was in that meeting and also was one of those who took part in the actual event. We think his name was David Allen. We also found out he was a Mason in Boston. How can we find information out from that lodge? I think it was St. Andrews Masonic Lodge. I've written to the librarian and not received any response. Thank you, Florence Allen
Dear List, I have documentation of a marriage between James E. FOOTE and Emily Maude YOUNG on 12-Dec., 1890, performed by Abijah HALL. I have the marriage certificate from the City of Boston, and the event is documented in the obituary for Emily Maude (WILLIAMS) (YOUNG) FOOTE, 8-Jul., 1927. "WILLIAMS" was her birth name - "YOUNG" was her stepfather's name. The obituary describes the wedding as a largely attended event at Tremont Temple - several hundred guests. Both members of the wedding party were officers in the Salvation Army, and the ceremony was assisted by Ballington BOOTH. One would think that such an event would have made the papers. Does anyone have access to old newspapers from this time or can they point me to a resource for same? I certainly would be willing to pay for reasonable expenses. Thank you in advance, Janet FOOTE Katy, TX

I have updated the Early Boston Marriages at my web site. They have been expanded to include the years 1680 to 1715. There are not that many from the 1680's, but start having a lot in the 1690's. These only include the marriages that were recorded with the City of Boston. Even if you have a record of a marriage there these may still be of help as they also include the name of the Minister or J.P. who performed the marriage. I also have some later ones that were not recorded with the City online, these are on seperate pages by the Church that they were performed in. Coralynn Brown has also typed up vital records from other towns around Boston that were recorded in Boston, more of these will also be added later to what is online. A direct link to all of these is: http://www.rays-place.com/town/ma/boston/ Please stop by the entry page of my web site also to see all the other things that I have to help you. http://www.rays-place.com Cheers Ray Brown

Charlene, Are you referring to St. Francis DeSales Cemetery on Bunker Hill Street in Charlestown? According to David Allen Lmbert's book "A Guide to Massachusetts Cemeteries," the Archdiocese Archives has burial records 1833-1890 and cemetery lot sales 1834-1849. Contact info: Archives of Archdiocese of Boston, 2121 Commonwealth Ave., Brighton, MA 02135; 617-254-0100. I have written letters in an attempt to learn more about the cemetery and where the records may have been kept. I was told that probably no records were kept. I read the book Fire and Roses and I get the impression that a Catholic Cemetery was established in Charlestown in 1830 by Bishop Fenwick and that in 1834 a caretaker house was built even though the cemetery was "a target for threatened violence". > If anyone knows anything else about the cemetery, I would appreciate so much being contacted.
