Both are from August of 1747 concerning the same subject. One is from the Boston Gazette (18 Aug 1747) and the other from the Boston Post Boy (24 Aug 1747). They concern a list of people and where they were from, who were taken by the french and indians back to Quebec. These were printed from a microfilmed copy of the original newspapers. Unfortunately, I have not been able to take the time to transcribe them and wondered if someone else would like to do this for the list? I copied the entire newpaper and so it has more information than just this article and may be able to help someone else. The Boston Gazette was 4 pages long and the Boston Post Boy was 2. The two articles are not the same. Most of the names are mentioned in both but each has a few different ones included. Please contact me if you would like to transcribe these for everyone and I will be happy to email the pages individually to you. Or perhaps someone would be willing to post these on a web site for all to see? Marie --part1_92.66b9c09.2d902ea0_boundary--

    3. Another posibility is' If the original sender uses an e'mail program like Netscape which has a "Reply To" addtess capability then the ypur reply will over-ride all other addresses in favor of the "reply to". To reply to such a post the ""reply All" as mentioned below should include the rootsweb and senders addys in your responce header... 1. [BOSTON] BOSTON ROSENHAUER'S
    2. Hi, I'm looking for any Rosenhauer'sthat are or were from Boston, This family is one hard family to track down, I have some that were in ILL. in the 1860 census, one son had 2 children there in 1857 and 1858, now I have them here in muskegon MI. where one son joined the Civil War, the other son joined in Napierville Dupage county , now back to Boston, my husband's grandmother always told my husband Jack that his gg grandfather was a shoe maker in Boston.I'm sure if the story is true it would be John Rosenhauer, all of his children were farmers and worked for the saw mills here in Muskegon, The son George did have a Bakery here and later sold it, I have more info if anyone is interested in this family, need all the help I can get to smash my brick wall. Now if John was a shoe maker he and his wife Bertha ? divorced here or in ILL. havn't yet for anything on the divorce. How would a family travel from Boston to end up in Michigan. Sue

    3. If you haven't seen many posts on a list and want to verify what posts have been made, go to: http://lists.rootsweb.com/ and select the list you are interested in. Then, click on "Browse the Archives" for that list. The last time I checked the BOSTON list it said there were 16 posts for March 2004. Also, if you want to verify which lists you are subscribed too, go to (again): http://lists.rootsweb.com/ and click on PASSWORDS in the banner near the top. Then, when the form comes up, fill in your Email addy and check the "which lists am I subscribed too" box. Then, click the "Email me my information" box at the bottom of the page. You will receive a nice list back by Email indicating your subscribed lists. Don't unsubscribe from any list you have an interest in. It doesn't cost anything to remain subscribed. I'm glad Pauli, a list owner of other lists, verified the Reply/Reply All info. I thought that was the way it worked, but not being a list owner, I wasn't sure. 3. Hi Pauli, The only option I have is reply to all, on this list I guess it does work, I thought it didn't because I got a few replies that were not sent through the list. One other list I just joined the only way to reply to the list is copy and paste list address. 3. I am researching the Hall families of Boston. My ancestors are as follows: Joseph Adams Hall 9 Jun 1817 Boston MA, moved to New Orleans LA when he was about 17 and died in 1851 in San Francisco CA. I am looking for a birth record for him. He married Margaret Indiana Caswell. Joseph Hall and Maria Bartlett (d/o Thomas Bartlett and Alice Fitzpatrick) Married 5 Sep 1816. I would like to find where they are buried. He died 16 Jul 1844 and she died 14 Aug. 1873. He was employed at one time by Hamilton Bank. Maria's father Thomas Bartlett was a druggist. Joseph Hall and Anne Adams (d/o Nathaniel Adams and Elizabeth Parker. Her grandparents were Matthew Adams and Katharine Brigden and William Parker and Elizabeth Grafton) Joseph was a former sheriff of Boston and Judge of Probate. He was commissioned by the city of Boston to write an Oration for July 4, 1800. They married 22 May 1787. He died in 1848 and she died in 1793. Have not been able to find death or burial records for them. Joseph Hall and Abigail Brooks (d/o Caleb Brooks and Mary Winn) He was born in 1730 in Medford MA and she was born in 1733 in Medford MA. To my knowledge they both died in Boston MA but I have not been able to find death and burial records for them. Thank you Delores Slidell LA tousinau@bellsouth.net

    3. I have been on this list for quite a while, subscribing and unsubscribing as I go on vacation, etc. and there have been times when the list has been real busy and times when it is slow. I notice many of the list I have been subscribed to for a while slowing down. It may be, as it has been for me, that they have the information they came to the list for and move on to others they are seeking. I stay on the lists to see if I can return the favor and help new listers in their search. Hope this helps. "E"
