    3. Does anyone have any information on the Boston Work Horse Relief Program? I just came across a pin that belonged to my husband's g grandfather Patrick Breen. It says Boston Work Horse Relief Association. Driver's Badge. On the back it says P. Breen 1917 Patrick was a teamster for the city of Boston, and died from injuries he received from the Great Molasses Flood in 1919. Thanks in advance Gayle

    3. Hi, I have borrowed the book Index to Boston Births 1800-1850 from NEGHS. I'll have it for about a week. If anyone would like a lookup, I'd be happy to look for you. It does NOT have all the births in that time period, (my folk aren't there) but for those that are listed it has the date, child's full name, and parents' names (in most cases just the mother's first name is listed, but some do have the mother's maiden name) peace, Maureen "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate; our deepest fear is that we're powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us." - Marianne Williamson From the book, A Return to Love

    3. Hi, Jim and Listers: Jim wrote: "funy we always have talked names here is this new?" I certainly hope we continue to talk "names" here. I was pointing out that the surname BOSTON had another list called BOSTON-SURNAME. I thought that Corinne might not realize that. As it was, she sent me an Email off list thanking me because she didn't realize there was a "second" list. I ran into this situation with the Rootsweb Lists once before with the surname MAINE. The MAINE list is for the State of Maine, whereas the MAINE-SURNAME list is for the surname MAINE. I was just trying to pass along what I had learned previously so that others could benefit. Keep up the good work, Jim. I enjoy reading your responses to the many questions that you respond to on the BOSTON list. 3. Hi, Corinne: You probably should subscribe to and post to the BOSTON-SURNAME-L list for the BOSTON surname. The BOSTON-L list is used for the City of Boston, MA general area, not the surname. There are a few list names that fall into this category and Boston is one of them. Check out the page at: http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/surname/b/boston.html The BOSTON-L list is explained as the second item at: http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/usa/MA/suffolk.html Good luck in your research. 3. In my case, the Newspaper obit, as well as the death certificate stated that my husband's g greatfather was to be burried in St. Joseph's Cememtary in Lynn. The truth was he was burried in St. James Cemetary in Boston. Why this happened is still a mystery to us. There were no records of him ever being burried in Lynn. We live in NH and my neighbor's mother recently died. She was told by the funeral director that she need to have a place of burial stated. Since her mother was being cremated and having her ashes scattered, there was none. According to my neighbor the death certificate states she is burried in a neighborhood cemetary.. which is not true and can cause someone searching for genealogical information further down the road.. a real puzzle. Back to the original question regarding finding a birth certificate, I have marriage certificates (generally speaking) to be more accurate for birth dates/places than death certificates, since the information is given directly by the person. 3. Very true, I have also run into atleast two people who where, some years they were dug up and moved to a larger lot where they could be with the extended family. Another was that grand father was burried with his first wife and his second wife was the mother of his children. That took weeks to figure out. obit says Zacharia husband of Alma. grave stone says Maud. bc books wrote: > Hi Wendy, > I have often found mis information on death certificates.
