    1. [BOSTON] port of Boston question
    2. I am new to this list and am hoping someone can help. Other than the ISTG website, does anyone know of other websites that may have passenger lists for the port of Boston for the period 1896-1901? I am trying to locate an Irish immigrant that does not appear on the Ellis Island site and a request to the Archives in Philly also did not produce results. I am told that Boston or Baltimore is the next place I should look. I have not been able to find the person in the 1900 census, I *think* I have him in 1910 in Buffalo, NY and by 1915 he is in St. Louis, MO. I am hoping to find some helpful resources online that may help me narrow things down. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Lisa Austin, TX

    1. [BOSTON] Looking for information on the O'MARA family (Need help )
    2. Hello. I am trying to find information on my O'MARA family. James Patrick O'MARA married Abagail Murray in 1915 ( James second marriage, his first wife Dilia CONNELL died in Boston after 1905), James had one son that I know of, Charles born in 1905. Charles married Julia F McDONALD in 1929 in Boston. I found two of Charles and Julia's children by looking the family up at the archives. The two I found were James, born in 1931 and Charles born in 1933. James married a Marilyn M HESSON in 1959, they had twins a boy and a girl named Jeffrey Martin and Jan Marie in 1962. When the twins were born, James and Marilyn were living in Stoughton Ma. I would like to get in touch with this family. I have quite a bit of info on the O'MARA family. Any information will be appreciated. RESEARCHing O'MARA, TENNIHAN, COLE, GOGGIN, HUDSON, MAY, DIZOGLIO. Best wishes. Bob. Best wishes. Bob.

    1. [BOSTON] Thank You and Another qestion?
    2. Hi List, Just want to thank everyone who responded to the first two queries I put on this list! I'm impressed with the helpfulness of you all! Living in Florida makes it difficult to research in Boston. I would like to send for some death and marriage certificates and I went to the Registry page but it seems I must have the date, location, etc. How can I find these if this information is unknown? As always, I certainly appreciate your help. Lynn/Florida

    1. [BOSTON] Wards in Boston
    2. How do I find out which wards my relatives lived in for the census? for example, 1860 one lived in West Roxbury. 1880- another on Decatur St in Charlestown. Is there someplace that would have a list of the wards? Also, how do I find out where Medford Court is? It doesn't exist on mapquest. Any direction greatly appreciated as I'm lost. Debbie S

    1. [BOSTON] Getting "Certificates" from Boston City Hall ??
    2. BBFFRRPP
    3. Hello, Someone on the MaMiddle List just asked about getting a birth certificate from Boston City Hospital. I was curious why she didn't want to contact .. Boston City Hall. So, I went to find their web site. I then found this web page mentioning the City Clerk's Office and how to request information on birth certificates, etc.: http://search.cityofboston.gov/query.html?qt=birth+certificate I am also curious if people have requested information from Boston's City Clerk's office, and whether it is a good resource. Cambridge City Clerk charges $5 apiece for certificates, depending on how their search goes. Does the Boston City Clerk charge the same? 1. [BOSTON] VON / Canada .. history page .. "visiting nurse assoc."
    2. BBFFRRPP
    3. Hello, Out of curiousity, I went to the search-engine www.dogpile.com and searched for V.O.N. and immediately found this web site: http://www.von.ca/english/aboutframe.htm In case this URL doesn't bring you to the "history" page, just click on "history" on the left. The organization seems to have been founded in Canada when ..one woman.. found a need for "visiting nurses." It mentions a meeting she had with Harvard University and discussions with a hospital in Waltham. 1. [BOSTON] Victorian Order of Nurses
    2. Hi List, Hope someone can help me. I found a picture of grandmother (Mary Louise Graham, maiden MacKenzie) standing on the steps of a building in Boston in about 1927-1930. The sign on the door said "Victorian Order of Nurses". Mary was a nurse. What I would like to know is where these nurses went to school? Was the VON a school - or was it a place to hire nurses? If anyone has any information on this building in Boston and it's use, I would appreciate hearing from them. Lynn
