Is there anyone who might be available to lookup a birth certificate for two Ehman(n)'s who are reported to have been born in MA (possibly Boston, Suffolk county)? Bertha Ehman(n), b. abt. 1869-71, and George Ehman(n), b. abt 1874-1876. By 1880, they are in Independence, Washington county, Texas. Father shown on the census is Benedik (Benedikt, Benedict) Ehman(n) and his wife is Eliza. I'm pretty sure Eliza is not Bertha's mother because she would have been too young, but she may have been George's mother. This side of the family has been my brick wall and I'm hoping to find more info on these records. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Kathy Bryant Oklahoma
Would anyone visiting the MA Archives be able to lookup the probate number for a will of John COOMBS / COOMBES who probably died between 1735 and 1741 in Boston? Many thanks Kerrie Australia

I have a copy of a relatives will (1866). He leaves everything his 8 year old daughter and appoints one of his nephews as executor and guardian of this daughter until she reached the age of 21. In checking census records, she never lived with this nephew and family. Are there any other papers i.e., guardianship or ?? that I should be looking for? She did have a nannny at the time of her father's death. Thank you. Elaine
I'm trying to do a look up on the 1860's census (MA, Suffolk County, Boston) for the McVey/McVay family. In the 1854 city directory they were living on Albany Street in Boston. In the 1861 city directory they were living on Harvard Street in Boston. Would anyone know what ward(s) these street names could possible be? Thank you. Peggy peggy0155@attbi.com

Hi All, Though I am not related I thought I'd post this for someone who just may be. I have in my possession an 1890 Boston Business Directory (fortunate to have latched onto this one!) This was apparently a gift to a child of Charles TRULL (1807- 23 OCT. 1890 ) from someone by the name of John E. on 25 Dec. 1889 . Inside are pages written , From 1 Jan. to October 23rd , 1890 the last page has written "Father passed away Oct.23rd at 9 a.m. " All other writting so small it is extremely difficult to read. The name Evelyn written a couple of times perhaps more. 1st line dated 1 Jan . is written : Pleasant. John and Eric to the Whist Club _ _ May Woodberry (?) . Evelyn __ to Mrs. Prinner. I have not been all through this book yet but I was very pleased and surprised to find inside was 2 original newsclippings , in which I have lamanated being so fragile . handwritten dates 1807 -1890 ~ Reads : CHARLES TRULL The late Charles Trull who passed away on the 23rd inst., in the 84th year of his age , was a typical Boston boy and man. He was a son of Ezra Trull , a well- known distiller , and a man of wealth , and was born in 1807 at the homestead formed by the junction of Alden , Sudbury , and Hawkins streets, was a graduate of the Mayhew school and entered the English High School in 1821 , the first year of it's institution , and graduated three years later. In 1841 he succeeded to the business of his father under he firm name of C. &. E. Trull , later known as Trull Brothers, from which concern he retired in 1851 . He was a member of the old fire department , belonging to Brooks No. 11, located on Franklin Street , and served with that organization until it was disbanded; hegreatly distinguished himself at the City Hotel stable fire by rescuing a number of horses , and getting badly burned in his efforts ,although his connection with the department had ceased sometime previously . Mr. Trull was also a well-known member and officer of the Boston City Guard and accompanied that famous corps to Philadelphia in it's memorable tour in 1831 and continued in active membership until 1850. In 1851 he purchased of William Bailey Lang the charming estate of Langwood, Wyoming , now known as the Langwood Hotel, where on numerous occasions he tendered the hospitalities of his magnificent mansion to his large circle of friends, and to those now living the memory of those happy days and of the cheerful dispenser will never be forgotten. After a residence of thirteen years there, he removed to Woburn , where he passed the remainder of his days. His last public appearance was on the occasion of the semi-centennial of the English High School in 1871, he being one of the few survivors of the first class which entered the school . On Dec. 31, 1839 , Mr. Trull was united in marriage with Miss Sarah Tarbell, daughter of General John Tarbell of Cambridge , who sur- (corner is missing with information ~ next line:) ____im, together with a son and a sister, the ____on John P. Tarbell * NOTE on the back of this paper is tape(?) with writting on it reads: "Mr. Samuel O. Aborn Boston Mass. Very old friend " This Transcription Ends, next one starts : Handwritten date 1890 ~ newspaper clipping reads : Another old resident has gone from our midst. Mr. Charles Trull died Oct. 23 , aged 83 years , 9 mos., 8 days . The deceased was born in Boston, and was for many years a member of the firm of Trull Bros. in that city . He came to Woburn in 1863 and since then has not been engaged in any active business , perferring the quiet of his home rather than the turmoil of business life. He was for years a member of the Old City Guard of Boston , and as an active member of the Boston Fire Department will be remembered by many. The immediate cause of death was a bronchial trouble. He will be buried from No. 2 Auburn Street , Saturday ,Oct. 25, Rev. Dr. March officiating. Interment will take place in the family tomb, Old Granary Burying Ground, Tremont street, Boston. (TRANSCRIPT ENDS) If you are of any realtionship to this man , this is wooonderful biographical information as well as dates , places, etc. Hope this helps someone ! Best to all , Andrea

Middlesex. Probates are always filed in the county where the person last resided before death, not where the will may necessarily have been written. Hello, Seeing the last posting on the List reminded me of a question. I have an ancestor who lived most of his life in CT, but around 1890 he moved to Melrose, MA. After his wife's death in 1899, he sold his house and probably moved to a rooming house in Boston. He probably lived in Boston from 1900 to 1904 when he was admitted to Tewksbury State Hospital. He died there (Tewksbury) in 1905. If he left a will, which County would it have been filed in, Suffolk or Middlesex? Thank you for your time. Betty (near Lowell, MA, USA) "There are two lasting bequests we can give our children; one is roots, the other is wings." Hodding Carter, Jr. "What does Jesus want in his "stocking" on Christmas morning? Loving kindness, a warm heart, and the stretched out hand of tolerance!" The Bishop's Wife (1947)

Hi Lou, I am not surprised at all. This is one tough family to find. I appreciate all of your hard work. But I did find this strange thing while searching the 1870 13th ward of Boston Mass. I belong to Ancestry.com and I was going through page by page of the census and on image 158, it is an 1860 cenesus page for Luzerne Co., Wilkes-Barre, Pa.!! Would you happen to know if there were any ward changes from 1870 to 1880? I am searching the 13th ward in 1870 because that is where John Manley was in 1880.
