My 3rd great grandfather was Leander Sydney Bost, and John Harvey was his brother. I found a write up for John Harvey at the Texas State Cemetery in Austin. there were a few mistakes in the dates (of battle, and enrollement was different than what he had on his pension record). The write up only had only found one relative for him, and that was Charlie F. Bost, living in Staples (Hays co). I don't know if you are familiar with the Texas State Cemetery, but it is normally reserved for Governors, Senators, etc from the Texas gov. But they allowed those in the Civil and Revolutionary wars to also be buried there. They have people who research everyone buried there, so that they will have a story. If you know more about John Harvey Bost, go to the website and contact them! I am sure they'd love to know more. I am just stunned at the common appearance in the Bost men! My grandfather and his father, and grandfather looked so much like John Harvey. So, that gene was a strong one! Were you ever told about the family after they moved to Hays County Texas? A cousin says an aunt told her that the family owned a huge amount of farm land in San Marcos Texas. Of course, my Bost family here is now very old, and most are gone. I know that their brother Marcus Bost moved to Hays Co. Tx first.and they were on the 1880 census there. But Leander Sydney was still in Catawba NC in 1880. I am not sure about John Harvey. In the San Marcos Cemetery the Bost family has a large plot. On one side is Leander Sydney's son Jonathan David, and family, and on the other side is Marcus' family. I am still trying to figure out how all the names are connected on Marcus' side. Leander Sydney died while visiting in Coleman Texas, so that is why he isn't buried "at home." By the way, my mother's maiden name was Bost. I'd love to share what I do know and that I am sure of on the Texas end. I am still wondering about which Bosts are the correct connect in NC. If you can tell me that, I'd be thrilled! Thanks.
