The DAR Patriot Index lists William, along with four of his brothers, as serving in the Revolutionary War. According to Bost historian Mary Pegram West's Biographical Notes, in 1754, the Bost family moved to North Carolina and settled in a German community near St. John's Lutheran Church in Cabarrus County. According to an Anson County, NC Bond dated January 19, 1762, William married Catherine Goodhart. On August 22 of that same year, William was granted 565 acres of land on Clark's Creek in Lincoln (now Catawba) County. It was here that William and Catherine moved, built a house and barns, planted crops, and raised their family. In late 1822, William died and his will was probated in Lincoln County Court in January of 1823. Sources: (1} Mary Pegram West's Biographical Notes from The Johannes Bast Family.
