It is unknown why he used the name "Johannes" in some official documents, since "Johannes" was ONLY used by Germans when they had no middle name. ????? His first wife was Mary KLEIN (CLINE). The second wife's name was Susannah Catharina/Katharina MOYER, although she evidently "went by" Catharina/Katharina/Catherine/Katherine. Seeing as how she was born in the early years of the 1700's in PA, from German immigrants, her actual name, as given by her parents, was probably Susanna Katharina, which would have been the German spelling. (Susanna was the German spelling, and Susannah was the English spelling.) I don't recall seeing any German given names for Catherine/Katherine beginning with a "C", it was always a "K", and Anglicized in America to a "C". Your "Elias" is actually "Johann Elias". Don't know if I've figured out our relationship before, but using my genealogy program (RootsMagic), I find that we are 6th Cousins, once removed. Regards, George W.
