I do have first wife Mary Cline. From my notes :There is no proof that Mary Klein / Cline is the first wife of Johannes Bast/Bost except there is one note in " The History of Grace Lutheran Church 1777 to 1899" by col. George M. Yoder that makes a reference to " William Bost whose mother was Bostian Cline's daughter" That would be William Bost born Between 1738/1739 in Northampton C. PA who married Catherine Goodhart. Mary Cline may have died in childbirth because I have his marriage to Susannah around 1740. This is my notes: He arrived in America September 1732 on the Ship Pink Pliance. With his parents . He was about 17 years old. ------------------------------------------------------ Johannes Bast is the pioneer ancestor of the Bast/Bost families of North Carolina, HE migrated in 1754 from Bucks Co. PA. -- this is from his tombstone. St John's Lutheran Cem Marker Cabarrus Co. NC -------------------------------------------- In a letter from (deleted) to (deleted) she states -- Johannes Bast and his familly came to Pennsylvania on the Pink Plaisance in Sept 1732. He is listed as a child on the ship's list and the only other Bast are Gerg (Jerig) Bast age 46 and Anna Maree Bast age 44. Johannes Bast later named one of his daughters Anna Maria and one of his sons George which is English version of Jerig. ================================================================= Biographical notes by Mary Pegram West said that Johannes was an educated German, a farmer, a Lutheran. First records found to date are in the History of Old Williams Township Congregation (Lutheran) of Bucks Co. Pa. Now in Northampton Co. Records are found there about his wife Susanna Catharina and 9 of his children and their activities from 1740 to late summer 1754. In about 1754 the family moved to North Carolina and settled near other German families and near St. John's Lutheran Church. They are burried there. He signed his name JOHANNES BAST. ----------------------------------------------------- Before the Rev. War and during , British soldiers tortured St John's first pastor,Adolph Nussmann and he died from these wounds. Understandably this is why the Bost family and others took an active part in the cause for freedom. 4 of his sons William, Elias, Jacob and George served as soldiers and Patriots. There are documents indicating that John also served. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As for Anna Maria Bost House--- my notes :Married Marx Haus one of the three trustees who secured the land grant for St. John's Church He is listed as a Rev war soldier. She is listed as a daughter of Johannes Bast on the tombstone. Too bad no one said the name of her mother:>( ------------- Mary Russell
