    3. I agree with Mary and why all the speculating on the Bast lineage? I see no big mystery? ""We may have to settle on what the preponderance of information leads us to believe. I would say Use Johannes and say his name was simply JOHN . Unless someone has proof otherwise. I would drop Klein/Cline and use unknown first wife for his first son William Bast/Bost. I make notes to myself that it has been said that Johannes may have had a middle name of Wilhelm. etc. etc."" If you find some error or question about my work at http://paynedaniel.com let me know. 3. I agree with you, Payne. Although the will of Johannes begins with" I, John Bost", we realize that the will is being written by another, a scribe or clerk, who uses the English version, or commonly used version of Johannes' name, because at the end of the will, he signs his name as "Johannes Bast", and affixes his seal. If his name follows the German Lutheran custom, it may have been Johnnes Wilhelm Bast, as the boys in a family would have a saint's name prefixed to theirs, in this case, John, but it was never used as part of the name on documents, etc. So , we'll most likely never know if his name was William or not, but it doesn't matter, after all, does it? >From: "Payne Daniel" <[email protected]> >Reply-To: Payne Daniel <[email protected]> >To: "Mary Harkey Russell" <[email protected]>, "BOST list" ><[email protected]> >Subject: Re: [BOST] Johannes BAST & Johann Wilhelm BAST, Jr. >Date: Fri, 15 Dec 2006 08:57:40 -0500 > >I agree with Mary and why all the speculating on the Bast lineage?
