I'd like to suggest something to the group. I have this group's surname in my ancestry. There is something called the Sorenson Molecular Geneology Foundation. They use DNA info to help identify ancestry. There are a couple of things that makes this Geneological DNA database unique: 1) they use all of the DNA information, not just Y-chromosone or maternal mitochondrial DNA, 2) therefore, they need every one to send in their DNA, not just men, 3) It's FREE, they'll send you a free kit and will analyze it for free. However, you won't get any info back from them. Anyone can search their database for free by using their genetic markers, but you'll need to find out your genetic markers from some other company. To request a free kit go to: http://smgf.org/request_a_free_kit.html From their website: "The non-profit Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation (SMGF) is building the world's largest database of correlated genetic and genealogical data. Our database uses sophisticated DNA analysis to link individuals together, while maintaining strict confidentiality of participants' information. The SMGF database pursues the following objectives: Build the public database by collecting DNA samples and corresponding genealogies from throughout the world Make the information useful to genealogists by allowing public access to the database while maintaining the privacy of contributors Help people get past “brick walls” within their genealogies by providing information about specific ancestors to whom they are biologically related Create analysis tools to enable genetics to be used in new ways for genealogical research DNA samples with associated four-generation pedigree charts have already been collected from over 50,000 volunteers by SMGF. Up to 170 genetic markers (specific regions of DNA) are analyzed for each individual. The corresponding pedigree chart is also extended as far as genealogical databases allow; extended pedigrees currently include over one million ancestral records. The database will be released in stages. When each portion is ready for public release, free access will be available through the SMGF Website. The first database release, comprising paternal-line (Y chromosome) genetic data and corresponding genealogies, includes data for more than 12,000 individuals and hundreds of thousands of ancestors. SMGF also continually conducts research into new methods of using DNA analysis for genealogical research. A significant focus of our research is to identify and trace ancestral origins, with genetic identity defined by factors of demographic separation as well as by time period. We are also researching ways to use the inheritance models of various types of genetic data to trace different genealogical lines. We are experimenting with new genetic clustering algorithms, the statistical reconstruction of ancestral trees, the inference of ancestral genetic signatures, and the inference of surname based on paternal-line DNA." A goodmorning also. I think there is a Bost-Klein marriage, but is generations removed from Johannes. Mary, your Anna Maree was born in America. Johannes is shown as a youth on the ship's list with his parents. I have some information on her and Marx (Mark) Haus (House)'s children. I'm glad that you posted that bit abt Bost Mills /Mill. I had stopped by there on one visit to NC, and spoke with his wife, but her husband was not home at the time. Sorry guys, I'm falling behind, Been to Louisville KY for two days. I have ( probably wrong) Georg Jurig Bast 1687- aft 1719 married to Anna Maree 1689 aft 1719 both in What later became Germany. For him I have Heuchelheim, Frankenthal, Pfatz, Bayern Then their son was Johannes Wilhelm Bost. I thought that Johannes was a young person when he came over here. Not married. Then I thought perhaps I was getting him confused with the Barringers. I have nothing good to say about my notes ! I have this note. --------------------------------------- Jerig is George. listed with Anna Marie and Johannes on the "Pink Plaisance" that arrived 21 Sept 1732 into PA. Georg listed as age 46 and Anna Marie as 44 no age given for Johannes. Copies of the ship's list and the list of those who took the Oath of Allegience and facsimilies of Georg Bast's signature are available in book " PA. German Pioneers" byStrassburg & Henke.------------- --------------------------- Oh Well!. Mary
You never as smart as you think you are. I should have said that I need documentation for Mary Klein as a first wife for old Johannes. Anna Mare was his mama. Mary, According to information I have, Anna Marie, (after her grandmother), was one of the two children from the unknown first wife of Johannes Wilhelm Bast. The other was William. I descend from Elias Bost. 1747, PA-1822NC. Elias was the s/o Johannes and his 2nd wife, who appears to be Susannah/Susanna Catherine Moyer, who came to America from Germany with her parents and siblings when she was 16 years old Sincerely, Kent L. You say the ancestors of Theodore Bost were from Switzerland? Were they in any way related to the family of Johannes Wilhelm Bost born around 2729 in Kaldung Germany? This Bost family lived in Cabarrus Co. NC area from the early 1700's. I am descended from this line. Johannes and his wife Sussanna had a daughter Anna Maria Bost born about 1746 in Germany who died about 1793 in Iredell Co. NC. She married Mark House. I know from history that after one of the early wars , many Swiss moved into what became Germany and many of those came on to America. It could be that a dna test would be the only way to find a hint of a common ancestor if one existed. Mary Harkey Russell [email protected] http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~bird Bost list owner
