Greetings, I descend from Henry Long who married Catherine Bost, daughter of William Bost and Elizabeth Shive/Shieb. I have a few questions I hope someone might help me with. Did William leave a will? If not, what other documentation is available that mentions Henry and/or Catherine Long? Also, I have been told that William's son William (1814-1891) died unmarried and mentions many of his nephews and nieces. Are there any Longs mentioned in this will? I may be reached directly at the address below. Thanks for any assistance in helping document this line. Dave Long Memphis, TN [email protected]
Hello NCBaby68, My 6th great grandfather was Johannes BAST (John BOST), Sr. He was born in Bucks Co., PA, and died in Catawba Co., NC. He was married to Catreena SHUFFORD. I descend through: Conrad BOST, b.1772, Catawba, NC, m.Catherine BOST; Silas BOST, b.5Jun1808, m.Jane ?; Frances Mahala BOST, b.29Feb1840, NC, m.John P. WILKINSON; William Wallace WILKINSON, Sr., b.1Mar1869, Iredale, NC, m.(2nd)S. Elizabeth (Betty) MOHLER; Lenora WILKINSON, b.15Jul1891, m.Herman Lovette BROYLES; Mary Frances BROYLES, b.6Jun1921, m.Norman Ray DURMAN; Me I can not find a James P. BOST in my genealogy database, nor can I find a William BOST married to a Harriet. I have several Williams without spouses, but would need some more specifics on your William to possibly tie him in to the main NC BOST family. Could you send some details such as birth, marriage, death dates; places for the same events; etc.? Just as a suggestion, it's nice to make a short subject line that more properly identifies what your email is about. "Bost Family" is rather generic and one has to open the email in order to see what you want. I always suggest something like this for a subject: (Example) BOST, Silas; b.5Jun1808,NC; d.17Apr1783,New Sterling,Iredell,NC; I'll try to place your William as soon as you send some specifics. For those of you who wrote to me. It took 40 minutes to 1 hour for my message to get from my computer through rootsweb and back to me. . It looks like that is what it took for you. That's really good compared to some I'm hearing about. Some people are saying 8 hours. If any bounces occurred I haven't been notified yet. So now that we are on that new system that rootsweb is working on, we need some activity on the list. Sometimes people start feeling like there is nothing new to talk about because " we are all probably related" That is not a good reason . There are things we don't know. Mary
I am testing this list to see how long mail is taking to come through that new rootsweb server. It is 6:21 CDT. here in KY. I also want to know if mail is bouncing or if people on AOL are having trouble. If you get this I would appreciate a note . Tell me if you use Comcast, Earthlink, Aol or what ( if you have time) I probably won't reply to you. I just need Info. Thanks Mary

I am from the San Marcos line - if you will. I'm not sure what I have that you may need, but will share whatever I have. I have recently been in touch with another family member from the Perry T side. I have been looking for the Civil War records of Marcus. He is listed as a 2LT in the NC Militia and a member of A co. 12 NC Infantry, but no service dates. Family lore says that the San Marcos side stayed in touch with the relatives from NC, and made several trips back, but I haven't made any progress in that arena yet. I do have a copy of a write up for Perry T Bost from the 1800's. He apparently was quite prosperous and well thought of in the community

War records will be? NARA does not have all records. Sometimes the state does. And, would wills be located in Catawba, or Lincolnton? Due to the cost of requests, I'd like to know if I will get something in return for my check. I've lost quite a bit by records not being found. If you have actually ordered these records, I would be grateful for you directing me to the right archive! Thanks - Janet in Texas (William Sr was my 6th great grandfather on mother's side)
