I was wondering what info you might have strolled upon regarding your search for Marguerite Bossert. You mentioned that she married a man named Neu or Nye and that she last lived on Auburn Ave here in Buffalo. It just happens that I live a couple blocks from Auburn (Dorchester Road) and the original owner of my home was Sylvanus B. Nye (Sylvanus Nye, possibly Sylvanus Barlow Nye). Have you found anything that may point to her marrying a Sylvanus Nye? If so, we may be able to share some points of interest. If you'd like to talk further, please respond! Hope to hear from you soon... Tim

Looking for info/ leads on a Yerkes/ Jurgs/ Georg Bossert, born about 1797 in PA and married Hannah Miller. Yerkes may be a version of Jurgs or Georg. Also, I am told that many German families gave ALL their sons an "official" first name of "Johann/John" but used the middle name. (John was in honor of St John.) So Yerkes/Jurgs/Georg may have been used instead of John. Please post any info, leads or ideas Thanks David Bossert
My Bosserts hail from Newark, Nj. None that I know of come from PA.

But If it says she was from York, PA. Then there must have been another Daniel Bossert. My Daniel Boosert was from the Danielsville area since the early 1800's. Also Danielsville is in Northampton County, not Lehigh. I live on the same property that was once the Daniel Bossard/ Bossert farmland.

My father, Harold Bossert, was born January 19, 1928 in Newark, New Jersey. My father just passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2001. I was always under the impression that this was my fathers birthname. Now I am being told that this may be an adopted name. I always knew that he did not know his parents but I was told that when he was 15 years old he found out his name was Bossert not Buzza switched to his name back to Bossert and entered the military- the navy. I was told he entered the navy when he was 15 but said he was 18 years old. I am planning a trip to NJ to look for a birth certificate. He has one but no parents are listed. It just states that a certificate is on record and confirms his birthdate. The name I always had for a father was Eugene Bossert. Mothers name not known? My father was very private about this topic. Facts are very limited.
The earliest verifiable information I have about my g.g.grandfather, Rudolph (or Rudolf) Bossert is an 1830 Deed (Allegheny County, PA) showing that he and his wife Margaret ("Peggy") purchased land in Indiana Twp., just prior to his death. (By coincidense, the same year that John Yerkes Bossert died.) A June 6, 1900 entry made by Rudolph's daughter-in-law in our Family Bible states that he " He married in Alsace-Lorraine, came to the U.S. and his wife died and was buried at sea. Rudolph re-married Margaret Acre and had 2 children: John - and Sally - - ". I have no information about his age at death, or when and where he and Margaret were married. Based upon the birth of their first child, Sarah/Salome/Sally (4/25/1816), and the assumption that it had taken 5 to 15 years for Rudolph to get established here in the USA and then marry Margaret, he may have arrived here between 1800 & 1810, but to-date I have not found his or a similar name in or around that period on any online ship's lists or the 2001 edition of the "1500s-1900s Passenger and Immigration Lists Index" by P. William Filby. If that portion of my g.grandmother's Bible notation about Rudolph coming from Alsace-Lorraine and his wife having died and buried at sea is not accurate, maybe he was a descendant of one of the "5 Bossert brothers came to US 1723-1725 on ships Martha and Goodship Mary" or perhaps of the Jacob Bossert who came on the ship Mercury on May 2, 1735. I know that I am really reaching, but maybe one of you out there can help break a hole in my "brick wall". Thanks for "listening". Lois
