But the birth date you have listed for Barbara 13 Sept 1870 is his date of death. Her's should state b. 26 July 1816 - d.8 Nov. 1884. I did find in the 1850 census John & Barbara,45 & 34), having Jacob,14, John,12, Samuel,10, Catheren,8, Ephreham,6, George,5, Mary,4 and Adam,2. Living in Marlborough Township. Which is all six of the boys listed in her obit., but still didn't have the third daughter.

Look for old letters, maybe even some of the families nearby that may have come over with them. Also look at old baptism, marriage, and death entries in the church records. If the area had a local Who's Who in that time period, the village may be given. If they were naturalized, the application (not the final papers) will have the village. It may even be on the gravestone inscription.

Do you think you could post or email it to me. I had a hunch that with the info. from people and St. John's that Johannes was a relative of George Bossert. The records that Frieden's had didn't really go in that direction. If you know different I would be interested in learning about it. Thanks Shelly Mazza

He is my 3g-grandfather. The stone appears to be mis-spelled but it isn't. It's just the German form of the letter s. I did find Barbara's obit in the church records which was rather informative regarding her family line. From what you say it doesn't appear that we are from the same Bossert line. Do you have any additional info on Johanne? I stop with him and only know that he was born in Baden, Germany. I do have quite a bit of info on my Bossert line until present time. Steve

I am Michelle (Bossert) Mazza. I am from Perkiomenville and have been researching my father James Bossert's side of our family. I have found many different spellings of the last name. My father James H. Bossert, from- James W. Bossert, from-Washington H. Bossert, from- George S. Bossert ... I also have gone to Frieden's Church and walked the graves and documented stones. Some are spelled wrong but related. I am still checking into Johannes Boffert and Barbara Bossert's stones. Johannes is written in German. They are side by side and the church has a copy of her orbit. on file which I have coied. She was deffinitely his wife and they had a large family. Her stone states Wife Of Johannes. George & Catharine Bossert are also buried their next to two of their children. Ida L. Bossert & Samuel B. Bossert. The childrens stones are spelled correctly. George & Catharines are not though. George's showing - Father - George S. Bosserd -Born 11-17-1842 -Died 12-11-1903 - 61yrs & 24 days old. Catharine's showing - Mother - Kate S. Bosserd -Born 03-1-1845 -Died 07-22-1924 - 79 yr, 4 months & 21 days old. Samuel's (which is to the left of Father's) shows - At Rest - Samuel B. Bossert - Born 05-01-1883 -Died 05-16-1928 - 45 yrs. & 15 days old. Ida's (which is to left of Mother's) shows - Ida L. Bossert - Born 10-28-1880 -Died 06-29-1936 - 55 yrs. 8 months & 1 day old. Two of their other children are also in the cemetary but in other lot area are John B. Bossert & Adam Daniel. Both of their satones do say son of George & Catharine Bossert. John dying at only 26yrs. old and Adam at only 18 yrs. old. I do also know alot more info. I could go on forever. One of their other sons that would be my great grandfather is buried their too. Washington H. Bossert along with his wife Emma Laura (Erb), their one daughter, & Emma's father William D. Erb. Frieden's cemetary has many members of St. John's Church up the street buried their. They share the cemetary. I have figured out alot of info. about George & Catharine (Kate) & their family, but am always looking for more.

The Grand Duchy of Baden was Catholic in the southern half and Evangelische in the northern half. The reason for Baden being both was that it was actually two different duchies previously, both named Baden. See the history at http://www.genealogienetz.de/reg/BAD-WUE/hist.html#Gesch-B. HOWEVER, my Evangelische HELDs came from a small group of villages in southern Baden. My suspicion is that the region was once part of Würtemberg, because in the church records where my HELDs settled up north, the "county seat" given for the region was Tuttlingen, Würtemberg and not Donaueschingen, Baden as they should have been.

They went over the boarder into Germany or France and then eventually to USA... Lucerne was a Cathloic stronghold and Zurich more Protestant according to my dad. The two cantons border each other. My family at that time was strongly Catholic. Were the German Bosserts more protestant?? There are many Bosserts in Pa that are from Germany. We can not conect on the family tree unless we get back to our roots probably in Switzerland.. I have listed all the names of Bosserts I have in the 1600's I will keep track of yours for future reference.
