    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: GJoseph1957 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.bossert/83.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Please contact me. Conrad is a direct ancestor, as is Jacob, and I have information on the family from Westmoreland County, including photos of gravemarkers. Conrad was indeed Jacob's father, and Jacob did marry Rachel Hart. Maria Oblinger was Conrad's wife. I would really like to confirm a relationship between Conrad and Michael, but have not been sucessful. George Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: GJoseph1957 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.bossert/83.1.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Regrettably, I have not had much luck in confirming Michael Bossert's relationship to Conrad Buzzard. I use the Buzzard surname as that is the name used most frequently in Westmoreland County, where I was born. Conrad is also 6 generations removed from me. I was able to confirm that Conrad's mother was a woman named Catharina (her name is found as Catrina in one census that I reviewed). I had found another researcher who claimed that Michael was the father, and that he died as a prisoner of the British in the Revolutionary war, but the spelling variations have prevented me from finding the service records. Catrina, however, was a widow in the censes record. I have a lot of information on the Buzzards in Westmoreland County. Actually, some of the family uses the surname Bussard. There is an online book on the History of Westmoreland County, by John Boucher, with several generations of history on the family. Google Books will allow you to preview it. W.H.Bussard is found on page 193. The book has several inaccuracies, including Conrad's birth year, but it does note that W.H.'s great-grandfather served as a soldier in the Revolutionary War in the colonial interests. If I could find the military records, I think I could make the connection. I hope this helps. I would be happy to correspond with you to sort through this matter. I have recently discovered information on Michael Buzzard referencing a son Conrad Bussard born in 1774--Michael is 6 generations removed from me. Conrad moved to Westmoreland County, PA which is where my family is but there have been so many name variations from Buzzard to Bussard to Bossart to Possert etc that it's a little had to track. I am trying to go further back from Michael if you can help. Thanks Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Christian married Clara Peters and one of their children was Alfred...my father's father. The way I understand it, Christian and Clara had three children: Alfred, Karl and Emilie. I guess then that your mother is Emilie? I was under the impression that Emilie stayed in Germany with her parents. Please let me know if this is right or if I'm off base. I've been searching for similar branches of the family tree, because Christian Bossert (b. Pforzheim) was the father of my mother's father. My mother had told me stories about visiting her grandfather's butcher shop in the late 1920s and early 1930s and playing in the sawdust on the floor. I am still in contact with a few Bossert second cousins, first cousins to my mom. Let's talk more about this directly and fill in more names on our tree!---Ned Bates Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: jhalterman36 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.bossert/168.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Correction...... Sorry, but my previous post contained flawed info. It was NOT Georg Jacob that was married to a Barbara Plattner/Blattner, but as I recall a Johann Jacob and in the same town of Bauschlott. Regarding Caroline, it is still not determined if Margaret was her birth mother, but unlikely. Thus far Caroline's baptismal record is not posted in the Family Search website and thus far neither is another marriage record for Georg Jacob. However... the good news is that the Family Search site has recently posted many new records for Baden, Germany and we can now trace this Bossert line back to at least Georg Jacob's grandparents and probably to his great grandparents. The problem with the great grandparents is that there are two valid possiblities for his Bossert great grandparents, though one couple seems somewhat more likely than the other.
