Good Afternoon Boschong Subscribers, Don't expect me to be posting too much on this List. I am just tying up a few loose ends from previous posts. In the mail recently, I received some paperwork from Theresa Bosel, Columbiana County Ohio Recorder. A few days ago I had called her to ask her a question about something I had found in a Index and needed clarification on. On some paperwork I had received long ago from Salt Lake City. I posted to the BOSCHONG List the Will of William Bushong so check the Archives for January 2009. One of the pages from Salt Lake had one page that said: PACKET(S) MISSING No. 1286 Sign OutDoc. CP1, Page 280 PROBATE COURT Columbiana County, Ohio. In the matter of THE ESTATE OF JACOB MYERS, DECEASED William Bushong Guardian of Catharine Myers et al. App D6, Page 207, November Term 1833 Rec. B 9, Page 518. Other then that, the packet was empty and I thought that needed a little more investigative work on my part. So here is what the Recorder was able to find for me. It is just the beginning as I will be seeking more information on this sometime this week. Journal # 8 of Common Pleas Columbiana County Ohio May Term 1834 Page 82 WILLIAM BUSHONG GUARDIAN OF C. MYERS - The order to appraise is here returned. Appraised at $375. On motion leave given to amend petition Guardianship Jacob Myers a petition by Guardian. Whereupon the Court direct the said Guardian to Sell the said premises agreebly to law, and return his proceedings to this Court. August Term 1837 WILLIAM BUSHONG, GUARDIAN OF JACOB, CATHARINE AND GEORGE MYERS Petition to sell Land. Order to appraise & c returned appraised. Whereupon the Court directs the Guardian to proceed and Sell the said premises, Subject to Dower, agreeably to law and report his doings to this Court. WILLIAM BUSHONG, GUARDIAN OF CHRISTINA MYERS {sic Catharine} - The Court having heard the petition and being satisfied that the facts therein stated are true and that such sale will be for the advantage of said Ward, appoint William Moody, Jesse Allen and Jacob Keckly to appraise the said premises subject to the Dower of the Widow,, under oath or affirmation and return their proceedings to this Court. OHIO PATRIOT AND FARMERS AND MECHANICS' SHIELD Friday, 13 october 1837 Volume 24 No. 28 Public sale, by order of court, to sell all the right and title of JACOB MYERS, CATHARINE MYERS AND GEORGE MYERS, minor heirs of JACOB MYERS, deceased, to out lot 5 adjoining Salem Street in town of Columbiana; also 80/100 of an acre adjoining said street. WILLIAM BUSHONG, guardian. -------------------- CONDENSED VERSION OF 52 Pages of Probate: I have since found out that the William Bushong, Guardian, was the William Bushong who was married to Catharine Bartley and died in 1837 in Columbiana County, Ohio. In his Probate there is a mention of him being the Guardian of the children. ------------------------ Columbiana County Ohio Court of Common Pleas Probate - 1837 KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS THAT: We Daniel Bushong, J. G. Williard, Peter Bushong, and Joseph Thompson Jr. of Columbiana County, Ohio are held and firmly bound to the State of Ohio, in the sum of Twelve Thousand dollars, to which payment will and truly to be made unto said State of Ohio, we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators and every of them jointly and severally firmly by these presents. Signed and sealed this 27th day of November 1837. The conditions of this bond is such, that if the above named Daniel Bushong and J. G. Williard Executors of the Last Will and testament of William Bushong, late of said county, deceased, shall faithfully perform the duties required of them as such. Executors by law and shall administer agreeably to the statutes of Ohio in such cases made and provided, then this bond to be void and of non effect otherwise to remain in full force and virtue of law.
