Shenandoah County Virginia Deed Book 5 Page 455 Copied at FHC, Salt Lake City, Utah Film/Fiche # 33914 This Deed made this 1st day of April 1859 BETWEEN Peter Bushong of the County of Shenandoah and State of Virginia of the one part and David Bowman of the County of Rockingham and State of Virginia of the other part WITNESSETH that the said Peter Bushong for and in Consideration of the sum Five Thousand Three Hundred and Ninety Six Dollars and Fifteen cents to be paid as follows: Fifteen Hundred Dollars on the 1st day of April 1859, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged and Twelve Hundred and Ninety Eight Dollars and Seventy and 4 1/2 cents on the 1st day of April 1860 and Twelve Hundred and Ninety Eight Dollars and Seventy one 1/2 cents on the 1st day of April 1861 and Twelve Hundred and Ninety Eight Dollars and Seventy one 1/2 cents on the 1st day of April 1862 For all of said payment deferred bonds have been executed and a lien is expressly reserved on the Land for the payment thereof do grant unto the said David Bowman a certain Tract of Land on which the said Peter Bushong now resides lying and being in the County of Shenandoah adjoining the lands of Jacob Kipps, Philip Bushong's heirs and others and is the same Tract of Land which was bequeathed unto the said Peter Bushong by his Father Peter Bushong deceased by his last Will and Testament and is known in the division Platt of the Lands of Peter Bushong decd. as Lot No. 1 and is bounded as follows: BEGINNING at a Large white Oak corner to Jacob Kipps land, thence with his line North 21 3/4 degrees East 81 poles 19 links to a fallen spar oak whereas a stone is to be planted, thence North 55 1/2 degrees West 50 poles and 10 links to a station between a white oak and white oak stump where a stone is to be planted in Jacob Garber's line thence with his line crossing this corner a continued course with Jacob Knopps line North 46.40 degrees East 79 poles and Fifteen links to a station near a white oak where a stone is to be planted thence continued with said Knopp's line south 56 3/4 East 15 poles to a black oak in a sink hole in an old line thence with said line North 31 East 4 poles 23 links to a white oak corner to Michael Wine thence with his line south 66.25 degrees East 209 poles to 4 blazed Hickories where a stone is to be planted in an old line now Lower's line thence with his line South 24 degrees west 43 poles 20 links to a pine stump where a stone is to be planted thence south 69 degrees East 89 poles and 12 links to a planted Rock Corner to Philip Bushongs Heirs thence with their line South 27 1/2 degrees West 62 poles and 15 links to a stake where a stone is to be planted thence North 69 degrees West 149 poles to a planted Rock near a white oak in a hollow thence North 23 degrees West 33 poles and 15 links to a Station where a stone is to be planted on the point of a hill by some Rocks thence South 57 1/2 West 99 poles and 7 links to a planted stone in Jacob Kipps line thence with his line North 66 1/2 degrees West 60 poles and 10 links to the Beginning Containing 215 acres 3 rods and 9 square poles be the same more or less and the said Peter Bushong doth release unto the said David Bowman all claim or claims upon the said tract of land and the said Grantor Covenants that he will warrant generally the property hereby conveyed; that he has the right to convey the said property to the said grantee: that the said grantee shall have quiet possession of the same free from all incumbrances: that he will execute such further assurances of the said property as may be requested and that he has done no act to incumber the said property. Witness the following signature and seal Peter Bushong, his Mark and Seal State of Virginia Shenandoah County, To Wit: I John D. Zirkle Notary public in said County and State of Virginia do Certify that Peter Bushong whose name is signed to the Writing hereto annexed bearing date the 1st day of April 1859 has acknowledged the same before me in the County aforesaid. Given under my hand this 1st day of April 1859 John D. Zirkle, N. P. Shenandoah County Court This foregoing Conveyance was returned to the Clerk's Office of said County May 18, 1859 and admitted to record. Teste: Saml. C.
