Boschong Subscribers, If this research is not correct, it can be changed at a later date but wanted to share what I have so far. Mark asked me to do some research on Nancy Jane Bushong, d/o of Delilah Bushong. Delilah Bushong was the daughter of James and Nancy (McCrary) Bushong and half sister to Milton Bushong. Nancy Jane Bushong married Nathaniel Moore. This has been very interesting research and I do believe there is a lot more to this family then meets the eye. I believe researchers thought that because they found Delilah Bushong in the 1850 census with her maiden name of Bushong, that those 3 children James, Nancy Jane and Thomas were illegitimate. Maybe they were and maybe they weren't. I'll bet that Bushong was not only her maiden name but also her married name. This is possibly a case of one Bushong marrying another Bushong where the wife's maiden name never changed because it was Bushong! Or none of these children are hers and she just adopted them or they were placed in her household to raise. More research will tell in the Guardianship records. For the moment, I'm going with she was married to another Bushong and will change it with any new evidence to prove otherwise. Whoever was the Clerk of the Court back then, did a really sloppy job of keeping the records as witnessed by looking at the microfilmed records of the marriage licenses and returns for Logan County so we may never find the marriage record. And for the moment, the mystery will remain as to who might be John and Mary Bushong with son James, just like the mystery of Lydia Bushon and her father Edward W. Bushon. For all we know maybe Edward W. was really Edward Valentine as in the missing Valentine Bushong who disappears in the early 1800s? ------------------------- NANCY JANE BUSHONG Born: Circa 1845, Ohio, d/o Delilah Bushong and possibly a James or John Bushong Died: Between June 1870 and April 1876 Burial: Unknown but possibly North Greenfield Cemetery.
