Boschong Subscribers, As you learned from the previous post with the Divorce and Pension application, John Summers Jr. was born in Rockbridge County, Virginia in either March or May of 1760. This would be the same John Summers, son of John Summers Sr. who wrote the Will of 1806 that we re-posted to the List recently. To further reenforce this knowledge here are some of the land records for what was Augusta County and then Rockbridge County, Virginia. I will try to get copies of the actual Deeds in the near future. Buffalo Creek runs through Rockbridge County into the James River. You can locate the area of land on a Atlas of Virginia. Find Interstate 81, then locate Buena Vista and Glasgow, Virginia. Then in between these two find Buffalo Creek flowing into the James River and this would be the general vicinity of the land in the Deeds below, I believe. I am open to discussion on this at any time. ----------------- Northern Neck Land Grants Library of Virginia JOHN SUMMERS 20 July 1768 - Augusta County 90 acres on Spur of the Camp Mountain in fork of James River --------------------------------------------------- Augusta County then Rockbridge County VA 1768 John Summers 440 acres corner of William McKee -------------------------- JOHN SUMMERS 16 March 1771 - Augusta County 200 acres branch of Buffaloe Creek ------------------ Rockbridge County, VA Deed Book B Page 243 6 September 1791 129 Acres John Summers Executor of the Estate of Paul Whitley Deceased of Lincoln County toHugh Allen of Rockbridge.
