"Tom" Bushong Jr., 75, of Granite City, Ill., born Feb. 28, 1937, in Granite City, Ill., passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at his home. On Aug. 22, 1958, Tom married Shirley Bailey, the love of his life in Granite City, Ill. Tom was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Granite City, Ill. He was very active in the F.I.G.S (Fellowship Involving Granite Seniors) at the church and played Santa and the Easter Bunny for many years as well. Tom was an auxiliary policeman for the Granite City Police Department. He worked 26 years at Madison Metal Decorating in Madison, Ill., and worked at the Casino Queen as a security guard for 10 years before retiring. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, whom he adored. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas A. and Dorothy, nee Weller, Bushong Sr.; and two brothers. Surviving are his loving wife, Shirley Bushong; three wonderful children, Debbie (Tim) Tedesco of Granite City, Ill., Lori (Mark) Jones of Granite City, Ill., and Sheri (Dalton) Holt of Edwardsville, Ill.; six grandchildren, Tommy (Lynsey) Tedesco, Jennifer Tedesco, Matt Jones, Megan Jones, Tyler Holt and Emma Holt; and dear nieces, nephews, special cousins and many friends.
