I am sorry to report the passing of Ruth Shrum Keller. Keller, 94, passed away on Sunday, 22 September 2013 at Consulate Health Care of Woodstock, Virginia. Mrs. Keller was born on 29 March 1919 in Toms Brook, Virginia, the daughter of the late Tasker Shrum and the late Katie Bushong Shrum. She was employed at Avtex in Front Royal and the Woodstock Coat Factory. Most of her working years, however, were spent at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Woodstock as a nurse's aide and as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She gave skilled and compassionate care to hospital patients for 38 years. During the summer, she and her husband enjoyed many weekends at their trailer on the water at Monroe Bay Campground in Colonial Beach, VA. She was an avid animal lover and fed all the stray animals in her neighborhood in addition to her own two cats. She was the wife of the late Irving L. Keller, of Woodstock, Virginia. She is survived by one daughter, Shirley K. Coffman of Rockville, Maryland; one granddaughter, Jennifer Webber and one great granddaughter, Katie Webber of Damascus, Maryland. There will be a graveside service at St. John's United Church of Christ, Harrisville Road, Toms Brook, Virginia on Wednesday, 25 September at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Joe Fleming will officiate.
