Unidentified newspaper 13 December 1989 RUTH M. HARRIS COLUMBUS GROVE ---- Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Shawnee Chapel of Chiles and Sons-Laman Funeral Homes, Lima, for Ruth M. Harris, 94, of here. She died at 3:53 a.m. Tuesday at Van Wert County Hospital. She was born 30 July 1895, in Columbus Grove, the daughter of James A. and Julia Marks Bushong. On 12 February 1916, she married Russell C. Harris, who died 12 October 1972. Mrs. Harris was the former co-owner of Harris Funeral Home in Columbus Grove. She was a member of the New Century Club, Grove Chapter Order of Eastern Star 527, and St. John's Methodist Church of Columbus Grove. Survivors include a son, Richard C. Harris of Lima; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Eloise) King of Van Wert; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Loma Woodward of Fowlerville, Michigan, and Della Clark of Bluffton. A daughter, Helen Conrad, died 24 June. Rev. Carl Minter will officiate. Burial will be in Truro Cemetery. CONRAD Helen Marie Conrad, 72, of Lima, died at 9:47 p.m. Saturday at St. Rita's Medical Center. She was born 16 December 1916, in Rockport, the daughter of Russell and Ruth Bushong Harris. Her mother survives in Lima. On 20 April 1941, she married Donald Conrad, who survives. Mrs. Conrad retired in 1982 as secretary for Allen East School. She was a member of Retired School Employees, Trinity United Methodist Church and its Women's Circle. Survivors also include a daughter, Donelda Marie Conrad of Wapakoneta; a brother, Richard Harris of Lima; and a sister, Eloise King of Van Wert. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Chiles and Sons-Laman Chapel of memories, Rev. George Vance officiating. Burial will be in Truro Cemetery, Columbus Grove. Risser are announcing the marriage of their daughter, Miss Joanna Mae Finn to Richard C. Harris, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Harris of Columbus Grove. the ceremony was performed in the Evangelical Untied Brethren parsonage at 7:45 p.m. 1st February with Rev. R. L. Clark, officiating. The bride wore a British tan wool suit with black accessories. her corsage was yellow jonquils. Mrs. Harris attended the local high school. Mr. Harris, a Navy veteran, spent 19 months in the service with duty in China and Okinawa. He is at present associated with is father at the Harris funeral home. They will make their residence in Columbus Grove. --------------------------- HARRIS'S TO MARK ANNIVERSARY Richard and Joanna Harris will celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary, 1 February 2002. The former residents of Columbus Grove now reside in Bluffton. Richard and the former Joanna Finn were married in Columbus Grove, 1 February 1947 by the Methodist Church pastor, Rev. R. L. Clark. The couple are the parents of Gary, of rural Columbus Grove; Gwen Duquette, who live in Savannah, Georgia; and Gregg, of Findlay. The Harris's have four grandsons and two great granddaughters. The players presented Harris with a football autographed by the whole team. Harris, who now resides at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton, was a cheerleader during his years at Columbus Grove High School. In 1978, he was presented with a plaque by the Bulldog basketball team proclaiming him the team's # 1 fan. According to his wife of 56 years, Joanna, Harris refers to the Bulldogs as "my doggies." The visit and presentation were arranged by Mennonite Memorial staff, including Peg Sautter, who went to school with the Harris's daughter.
