The Putnam County Sentinel Ottawa, Ohio Thursday, 16 December 1880 Page 3 ANOTHER PIONEER GONE George Bushong, Senior, died 11 December 1880, at the advanced age of 93 years, 10 months and 11 days. He was born in the State of Kentucky. He came to Ross County, Ohio with his parents when but a youth, opened a farm in Pleasant township, and went through all the privation of a pioneer life of this county. Mr. Bushong served as a soldier in the War of 1812 and was drawing a pension at the time of his death. He was a member of the Christian church for a number of years, and a few hours before he died he said all was well, the way was clear. His funeral was preached at Pendleton to an attentive congregation. He was interned by the side of his companion in the cemetery near Pendleton.
