Boschong Subscribers, We found this obit today and were saddened to see it. Gilbert is one of the last of the old timers in the Valley of Virginia. We had talked with Gilbert several times on the telephone, but he was never able to come to a Reunion because of his advanced age. Our condolences to nephew Richard Bushong, niece Barbara Lee & husband Jim, and the rest of the family. ------------------------- The Northern Virginia Daily 2 May 2011 Gilbert Franklin Bushong, of Woodstock, VA, passed away on April 29, 2011. He was born on December 20, 1916, the son of Emery Franklin and Sarah Elizabeth Wisman Bushong. On February 28, 1954 he married Margaret Davidson Fox who predeceased him on October 11, 2007. Gilbert, along with his wife, ran Emory Bushong and Sons Hay and Lumber and Bushong, Inc. Farming. They were co-owners of Sunset View Memorial Gardens for 30 years before retiring. He served in the _Army_ (http://www.legacy.com/legacies/army/?personid=150733444&affiliateID=2295) during W.W.II and returned home to help his parents run their hay and lumber business. He is survived by nephews, Jeffrey F. Bushong and wife Betsy, William L. Bushong and wife Dolores, of Woodstock, Richard Bushong, of Edinburg and Emery Bushong of CA; and nieces, Barbara Bushong Lee and husband Jim of CA, Joyce Bushong Eastman and husband Stanley of SC, and Delores A. Bushong of Washington, D.C.; along with great-nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church on Fairview Road, Woodstock, VA on Friday, May 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Sunset View Memorial Gardens, Woodstock, VA. The family has requested in lieu of flowers donations be made to Mt.
