    1. [BOSCHONG] Philip Bushong - Manufacturer of Burning Fluid - 1859 and Hauck and Snyder
    2. The Philadelphia Press Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 29 August 1859 Page 2 THE COURTS ON SATURDAY -- The case of Peter Hauck and Manassa Snyder, charged with the theft of twenty gallons of burning fluid, on the oath of Philip Bushong, was heard on Saturday morning on a writ of habeas corpus. The testimony showed that Manassa Snyder was in the employ of Philip Bushong, a manufacturer of burning fluid. The allegation is that Snyder delivered to Mr. Hauck a greater quantity of fluid than he charged on the books of his employer. Suspicions being entertained of the honestly of Snyder and Hauck, a watch was set, and the allegation is that, for three days in succession, the fraud was repeated. The habeas corpus was brought to procure the discharge of the defendants, but the Court refused to grant the prayer of the petitioner, and directed that bail be entered in $800 for their appearance to answer. ------------------------ Researched and Submitted by Gloria Bushong
