PART 2 We still have some gaps to fill in but according to B. K. Swartz, Peter Sr. died 10 February 1800 in one of the only duels recorded in Shenandoah County, Virginia. We are pretty sure it had something to do with the Chancery suit instituted by him in 1797 that we mentioned in the previous post. The Martin Swartz family were Lutheran and Peter Swartz family were Anabaptist so we are not sure how they are related, if at all. We believe Peter Swartz married twice and had children from both marriages. We know Peter, Catharine and Elizabeth are children from his first marriage. Mary, Hannah, and Ann are definitely from the second marriage. We are at some disadvantage since we have not found a tombstone for Peter Swartz and do not know when he was born. We suspect he is may be buried in Massanutten Cemetery. I searched for more information on the children of Peter Schwartz/Swartz mentioned in the Shenandoah County Minute Book and found the following which points to them being his children. We also found an entry for his grandson Lawrence after his father Peter Jr. died but could find no further information on Lawrence Swartz. He might have used his second name thus the disappearance in census records or he could have died before 1850. ----------------------- PETER SWARTZ SR.
