Yes, Hannah Cowan Hess, was in Rockingham County, Virginia for the 1850 Census. But Samuel, Mary and Samuel Jr. were in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania for the 1850 Census, so Michael Hess took his bride to Virginia. Hannah Hess died in 1878, in Madison County, Indiana, and is buried in the Ovid Mt. Zion Lutheran Cemetery - Adams Twp, Madison, Indiana, along with Michael Hess, her husband. Many of their descendants are buried in the area, too.
