Rick, Thanks for the additional information. I broke my rule of not researching and posting when I am tired or it is late in the evening as I tend to get sloppy. LOL. Probably if I had gone back and looked at my own research and posts in the BOSCHONG Archives for October 2009, I would have discovered that Andrew Moore Bushong was indeed the son of Charles Bushong and wife Margaret. My late husband Russell gave me moral support and helped carry the heavy books to work tables in the various courthouses and photo copied various Deeds and Wills when I found them. He drove the car on our trips. I put his name on the posts to honor him as my husband. ------- I did a lot of research on Bushong, Kansas. It was part of the underground railroad system during the Civil War. A group of Quakers from Pennsylvania settled there and worked with Henry, Jacob and Gilbert Bushong of Bird-in-Hand, plus other Quakers living in Pennsylvania and Ohio to smuggle runaway slaves through their system, into Kansas and parts West. "Doc" Bushong was from this ancestry and since he was a famous ball player, around the turn of the century, they re-named the town Bushong in honor of his family. The town is now abandoned. Russell and I drove through there on our way West on one of our many trips. We were very disappointed in what we saw. FYI - Did you know that "Doc" Bushong was involved in a big baseball scandal and that is the reason he left baseball to become a dentist? ------- Gloria
