The Gladwin County Record Gladwin, Michigan Tuesday, 21 September 2010 Nellie M. Bushong Nellie M. Bushong, 90, of Gladwin, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2010. She was born on Jan. 7, 1920, in Bremen, Ohio, to Chester and Mary Hilliard. Nellie was raised in Sweetgrass, Montana, moving to Gladwin, Michigan during the Oil boom, where she met and married Grover Bushong. They had six children, and she was a wonderful wife and mother. She worked at Gladwin Manufacturing for several years. Nellie then went to Ashcraft’s and worked in the bakery for 10 years. BUSHONG Grover C. Bushong, 65, 1890 West M-61, Gladwin, died Sunday in Gladwin Area Hospital. He was born Oct. 16, 1917, in Gladwin County and attended Gladwin schools. He married Nellie Hilliard June 11, 1939, in Gladwin. He lived for several years in Montana, returning to Gladwin in 1966. He had worked as a journeynam pipefitter in construction and retired in 1974. He leaves his wife; sons, Robert Bushong and Grover T. Bushong, both of Butte, Mont.; daughters Betty Clark and Mrs. Jack (Mary Ellen) Sherlock, both of Gladwin, and Mrs. William (Debbie) Platt of Midland; 20 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brothers, John Bushong of Hart and Robert Bushong of Gladwin; and sister, Mary Thorington of Gladwin. A son, Chester Bushong, died in June 1976. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Mathews Funeral Home, Gladwin, the Rev. Carl Lindberg officiating.
