    2. Boschong Subscribers, Here is the obit for Dorothy R. (Bushong) Sworden, who was the daughter of Ray Lawrence Bushong and Bessie V. Foltz. She was also the sister of Robert Bushong who contributed so much to the Bushong Bulletin. Our condolences to the family. SWORDEN Dorothy R. Sworden, 92, of Pemberville, formerly of Bradner, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2011 at Otterbein Portage Valley Retirement Village surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 20, 1918 in North Baltimore to the late Ray L. and Bessie V. (Foltz) Bushong. She married Glen R. "Hap" Sworden on December 8, 1940 in Findlay. He passed away on November 20, 1994. Surviving are her daughter, Betty Jo Dhondt of Maumee; son, James A. (Becky) Sworden of Gibsonburg; sister, Rhoda Nelle Basinger of McComb; brother, Raymond Bushong of Findlay; grandchildren, Kimberly (Bill) Nye, Stephanie (Vince) Lipari, Mark (Michelle) Sworden, Stacey Dhondt, Angela (Jeremy) Morelock and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Glen; parents, Ray and Bessie; step mother, Leota (Semler) Stotler; son-in-law, Ronald Dhondt; brother, Robert Bushong; sisters, Ruth McLeary, Margaret Frost, Elizabeth Bibler and infant sister Mary Frances Bushong. Dorothy had worked for Autolite in Fostoria and then retired from Lakota Schools in 1978 after 22 years as a cook in the cafeteria. She was a member of the Bradner United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's Group, member of the Albert Bowe American Legion Post #338 Auxiliary, Pemberville Eastern Stars, Bradner Pollyanna Club and she was a 1936 graduate of North Baltimore High School. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne and from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Bradner United Methodist Church where a Celebration of Life Service will start at 11 a.m., with pastors Jeff Ridenour and Pete Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Bradner Cemetery with a bereavement luncheon to follow back at the church. Memorial donations may be made to the Bradner United Methodist Church, Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg or Otterbein-Portage Valley Retirement Village in Pemberville.
