Good Morning Boschong Subscribers, While searching on information for another family, I ran across Mary Ida Loretta Bushong and her husband James McFarland. She is the daughter of Henry W. Bushong and Nancy Saviers. See BOSCHONG Archives for August 2009. There were a lot of McFarlands in South Dakota. I could trace James and Ida in census records except the 1880. I went page by page through Johnson County and could not find them. Her sister Keturah and husband were in Franklin Township, Franklin County, Kansas but some of the pages of this township are missing on Ancestry so possibly that is where they are living in the 1880 census. After the death of James, Ida is found living in Kansas City, Kansas in 1910. We don't know what happened after that census as we can find no burial records. We did find a Paul Richard Bushong who served in World War I, married Ada E. Collins and lived in South Dakota but not sure whether this is the same family as this. We will show it anyway, just in case. John or someone else possibly has researched and can make corrections if there are any to make and fill us in on additional information. ----------------------- History of State of Kansas A. T. Andreas Chicago, Illinois 1883 H. W. BUSHONG, contractor and builder, was born in Columbiana County, Ohio, October 11, 1831. He learned the blacksmith's trade there, serving as an apprentice some sixteen months; then working as a journeyman, and carrying on the business for eight years. After which he learned the trade of carpenter and builder in Richland County, Ohio, following it there until he came to Kansas, in March, 1866, since which time he has been engaged in his present business as a contractor and builder. Among the prominent buildings he has erected here are the Methodist Episcopal Church, Baptist Church, Harris & Co.'s Bank building, J. E. Clark & Son and Walker Bros.' business houses, Olathe Central School building, costing $13,100, and many others. Mr. Bushong was elected Representative of the Second Ward in the City Council in the spring of 1878, and again in 1881. He was married in Richland County, Ohio, September 22, 1853, to Nancy Saviers. They have four children living--Keturah Ann, IDA LORETTA, Elmer Ellsworth, and Melvin Saviers; and two dead--William Charles and Linie Pearl. ------------------------------ 1860 Federal Census: Ohio Shenandoah Village, BloomingGrove Township, Richland County Enumerated 9 July 1860 Page 351A Lines 1-5, HH 915/944 Henry W.
