McMillan-Small Funeral Home and Crematory Myrtle Beach, South Carolina RUTH BUSHONG Ruth Bushong, age 78, wife of H. Ed Bushong for 61 years, passed away Monday, June 06, 2011 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Bushong was born January 15, 1933 in Bertie County, NC, a daughter of the late William Thomas Pierce and the late Minnie Ethel Asbell Pierce. Mrs. Bushong was a Homemaker and Matriarch of her family. She was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother. In addition to her parents, her brothers; Ballard Pierce, Louis Pierce, Delmars Pierce; her sisters, Mattie Spruell, Ann Patrick, Bertha Mae Hardison preceded her in death. Surviving in addition to her husband are her son; Henry Edward Bushong, Jr. and his wife, Cheryl, of North Fork, CA; her daughters, Ann Marie Johnson and her husband, Donald, of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Phyllis Ruth Hucks and her husband, Sam, of Socastee, SC, Vicky Lynn Bushong of Socastee, SC; her nine grandchildren; her twelve great-grandchildren; her brothers, Cecil Pierce and his wife, Peggy, of Williamston, NC, Raleigh Pierce and his wife, Denise, of Jamesville, NC; and her sister, Thelma Chesson and her husband, G ordon, of Pearidge, NC. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, June 10, 2011 at McMillan-Small Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 11, 2011 at McMillan-Small Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. J. Kirk Lawton, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Oceanwoods Memorial Cemetery.
