Boschong Subscribers, This morning I went back and reviewed the family of Henry Bushong and Mary Ann Wendel since someone had inquired as to the exact location of Henry Bushong's home in Woodstock. The family actually owned several pieces of property, a farm of little over 100 acres, a house on Main Street and 3 orchards. In 1843 Henry Bushong and wife bought a home in Woodstock and then turned around and sold it in 1846. They then purchased farm property of a little over 100 acres at the south end of Woodstock right across the street from the Massanutten Academy where they lived until their deaths. Edward Mark Bushong inherited the farm and lived there until his death in 1922. His Will written in 1913 ordered that after his death, that all of his real and personal property be sold. The property was then sold out of the family. At some point their home was torn down and a BP station now sits on the corner of the property across from Massanutten Military Academy. While looking at Edward Mark Bushong's Will which he wrote in 1913, a name jumped out at me! W. M. CALVERT which certainly has more significane now that we know that Andrew Bushong married Elizabeth Calvert not Carrier. I am convinced that this W. M. Calvert who signed as a Will witness in someway is related to Edward Mark Bushong's grandmother Elizabeth (Calvert) Bushong and is probably a cousin to Edward Mark Bushong. W. M. or William M. Calvert's father William H. Calvert was born in Augusta County, Virginia but by the time he was an adult had moved to Winchester, Virginia and was of all things, a saloon keeper. {Remember the Augusta County Bosangs were ordinary keepers}. His son William M. Calvert lived in Woodstock and witnessed Edward Mark Bushong's Will. --------------- Shenandoah County Virginia Courthouse Woodstock, Virginia I, E. M.
